U.S. Drone Reverse-Engineered in Iran with Bombing Capabilities

LOL. Iran talks a big game, but I doubt this thing flies, and if it does, it probably flies poorly.

This is essentially a non-issue, IMO.

Lol @ non issue. The technology can be easily sold to countless countries without drone programs, thus enabling the mass production of more drones throughout the world and to enemies of this country. Not a non issue in the least when american technology gets intercepted by its enemies and begins to be widely produced and distributed.

They wheel out some can from 2011 they back engineered, and we're supposed to be what? Stressed out?

Wake me when there's news of them reverse engineering an alien craft.

You assume any of what the Iranians said was even remotely true.

If you are worried about American technology being stolen and reproduced I would shift concerns to the Israelis and Chinese.

If they actually did it, it would be an issue. But it's more likely similar to when they 'reverse engineered" an aircraft carrier or an F-22, i.e., if its made out of something besides wood and cloth I'd be surprised.

Good news is the Ayatollah looks like he's gonna die soon.

You guys have absolutely nothing to worry about. Are you forgetting how much cash the US puts into their military?

"In 2012, the most recent year for which complete data is available, the U.S. approved $645.7 billion in defense budget authority (fiscal year 2013 dollars). This figure includes funding for the Pentagon base budget, Department of Energy-administered nuclear weapons activities, and the war in Afghanistan.

This number is six times more than China, 11 times more than Russia, 27 times more than Iran and 33 times more than Israel. "

You haven't just won the arms race with Iran; you've lapped them 27 times.

Even if Hezbollah or Syria gets their hands on this drone, so what? isreal gets shit-loads of free toys that will give them a "qualitative advantage" over anyone in the middle-east for a long long time. Especially in terms of air superiority and of course if all else fails they can initiate their "Samson Option"

*Disclaimer: I don't have any bigotry for jews. I'm just saying*

Could they produce a replica? Probably. Could it have the same capabilities? Nope.

I am sure they could get a decent working example simply from the proceeds of selling what they captured in some kind of shared R&D program with another country.

Wake me when there's news of them reverse engineering an F-22 Raptor.

Fixed.
I'm not worried about a weaponless remote-controlled flying camera.

IP =Intellectual property.

Basically stealing other peoples inventions is cheaper than designing, testing and creating your own.

Oh. Okay that makes sense.

But TS still has nothing to worry about. The US is way ahead of the pack in regards to the art of killing shit.

drone tech will be copied sooner or later anyway by most countries.

u.s. is still the only country that bombs people with em in foreign airspace

Seems like bad news for the U.S. I wonder how soon this technology will be spread around allies of Iran.

"Iran has unveiled its own copy of an American stealth drone it captured in late 2011, claiming to have cracked the “secrets” of the bat-wing craft and added weapons capabilities.

Today, Fars News Agency reported that while Iran’s duplicate of the US RQ-170 Sentinel drone was smaller, it also had a “bombing capability to attack the US warships in any possible battle.” The story in Persian was headlined: “America’s nightmare has become reality.” State television showed footage on Sunday it said was of a US aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf filmed by an Iranian drone."

Give me about 100 gallons of fiberglass resin, 40 sheets of 8X4 1/8 inch plywood sheets, 400 screws and nails, 25 2X4X8 foot of lumber with 3 small aircraft tires and about 200 feet of 2 inch wide inch steel rolls like magic I will make a lookalike.

These are the same guys building a lookalike aircraft carrier. This is the stuff they do even though none of these things will work. in the case of the aircraft carrier its something that James Cameron would be impressed by that's about it. The reality is Cameron would have done a better job with it! :)
