...for wrestling. Compact and very robust, a lot like Cormier but more naturally vascular and athletic. If he went to wrestling instead of boxing i can see him as an olympian, again, much like DC.
This just proves to me that if he trained sprawl n brawl for a few months, he wins UFC 1.

I respectfully disagree. Tyson relied heavily on his coaches' tractics and how they drilled him. He outright struggled when his gameplan didn't work out and then failed to adapt during the fights, which in my book doesn't make him a very intelligent fighter. Fast learner, yes, but he definitely needed a brain behind his career.
 
tyson vs cm punk?? i would watch. ufc. no subs, kos, takedowns tho. hehe

He certainly needed someone to help him along, his out of the cage incidents derailed his career that's for sure.

His mid fight adjustments weren't perfect, but those fights all took place post prison after his dedication to boxing was incomparable to his younger years. I'm not saying he was a genius, but Mike knew how to systematically break a man into pieces. He was a vicious fighter, and letting him loose in MMA would be a true treat for the JBG.

When he was young, his genetically gifted body was just clay waiting to be molded, his brain was a sponge, his desire to learn evident. If he truly dedicated himself to sprawl and brawl and blue-belt level sub defense, he would have wreaked havoc.

I get your point, even tho I somewhat disagree with the overall observation. It's kind of a shame he never faced the competition he deserved during his younger years. Because of this a lot is left to speculation and if-scenarios. This definitely adds to his mystique tho.
 
If you took any top heavyweight combat athlete and put a good modern MMA coach in to coach them for a 6 months to a year and they would win UFC 1. You don't need to be Tyson.
 
Norma Dumont does it for. Freak show boxing exhibitions between 50 year olds doesn’t.
