He is on the list of greatest he defended the title multiple times and when he is done he will probably have another few. But your talking as far as who beats who, but that is never a fair comparison MMA evolved the WW Division of today kills the generation before but thats just natural.

WW has not evolved that much, if at all, from GSPs prime days. Hell Maia and Robbie are still top 5 WWs. Prime Fitch, Sheilds, Alves (he was a BEAST in 2008), Hendricks (before good testing), prime Condit etc.. would all be top WWs today and possibly champs. WW, LHW and HW have not gotten better in the last 10 years

Shutting down Maia's BJJ ability with supreme TDD just made it even worse.

Clinging onto the only white hope who actually got a UD over Woodley in Rory MacDonald or reaching even further with the roided Nate Marquardt fight earlier in Woodley's career.

This is part of the racism that Woodley is talking about which was confirmed even more so when an MMA podcast lead by former UFC HW Brandon Schuab made a racial twitter post about how the Fox Panel had just black people only.

Justice prevailed though when one of the UFC Fox panellists, legendary MMA veteran Yves Edwards spoke out well against Brandon Schaub and made him apologize for that blatant racist remark on twitter.

Also another example of justice prevailing is when Starbucks got exposed for racial profiling all because 2 African Americans waited for a friend prior to ordering coffee.

Subtle and insidious, holding minorities to different and higher standards just so they can shit on.

Not conforming to racist stereotypes, like the Mandingo fighter or the "thug" or the overthe top arrogant "baller" just to sell fights.

Respect to Woodley for speaking out well against racism in the MMA community and the UFC and for not conform to one of those racial stereotypes and against racial profiling by Starbucks.

Maia was a MW, Robbie gets beat by RDA who is a LW and only looks good fighting the old guard. In this day a class of caliber of Hardy would NEVER challenge for the title, you actually have to have a streak going. Of course since its 10 years the gap is not huge but still there.

This. GSP found a way to beat every single fighter he ever faced. He was able to make adjustments and beat all styles. Woodley has shown the inability to do so. He lost to both Rory and Shields.

Hardy only got a title shot because GSP beat everyone else. If Woodley beat every good fighter at WW, you would see a Hardy level fighter getting a title shot.

Looking at the top 10s. I would actually say WW is much WEAKER today then 10 years ago. A LW is ranked #2, freaking Colby Covington is #3, two guys from GSPs time are #4 and #5

If Condit hadn't twisted his knee (freak accident) then Woodley wouldn't be where he is today. We need a rematch just to be sure about Woodley's greatness, in my opinion.

Condit beat Rory who beat Woodley.
Condit also beat DHK a lot more convincing than Woodley did (KO of the Night, Woodley only got Performance of the Night).
Condit put a beating on Lawler and got robbed of the belt. Woodley beat a clearly shot Lawler just 5 months later for the belt.

We need a rematch. Then we can speculate. Yanadameen.
