I know that Kimuras/Americanas can cause broken arms or dislocated shoulders, but what else do they do in less extreme cases where they're still cranked a good bit, like Jon Jones vs Vitor Belfort? Do they damage the rotator cuff? What tendons/ligaments do they hit? I've just had a sore shoulder for a few days when someone took me down from standing with a kimura but no injuries.

Rotator cuff tears are the most common.

I was messing around rolling with a mate at NYE house party a few years back and he kimura'd me pretty hard and I was too drunk to tap out straight away and he didn't realise how deep it was and my shoulder was sore for weeks after.
