Its true that its a problem but one of the biggest obstacles to blunting cancel culture is at will employment and right to work which are both things that are vigorously defended by the right wing political class. You mean the alternative to at-will employment? I am not super well read on labor laws, I think @Trotsky actually works or worked in labor law. But in general a base assumption of good-faith over at-will would help. In other words, employers should be expected to produce a valid reason for your firing rather than being assumed to be able to fire you on a whim. I'm sure Trots or someone else could articulate a better response. But if you really think cancel culture is that bad you should be willing to reconsider at-will employment since fundamentally that's what leaves us vulnerable to being "canceled"

But when people talk about the comments from anonymous mouthbreathers as if they mean anything.....they really dont.
