A lot of people like to stream on Twitch and then upload on YouTube. They make more money on Twitch but diversify their income streams and expand their audience. One of the people I watched on YouTube for a few years back when I didn't go to Twitch, he eventually got me to go over to Twitch (he's partnered on Twitch and has 50k+ YouTube subs, but you need 100k+ to get verified on YouTube). There were some BIG streamers like Nick Eh 30 who started on YouTube and stayed there for a while, but Twitch gave them a lot of money to make the switch. And he still makes good money on YouTube too.

Personally I still like YouTube in a lot of ways, but also hate it, and YouTube banned me for a bullshit reason without any warning on a PREMIUM account. No other platform ever banned me, so I'm still sore about that. Twitch is better for streaming, especially since I can still chat and interact there and not on YouTube. Even before I was banned by YouTube, Twitch was still better for live streams and chatting. There are things I don't like about Twitch, but they've treated me better than YouTube has. MUCH better customer service.

YouTube is how you get discovered. You then migrate the audience over to Twitch.
