I wonder what that smug arrogant cunt Cenk over at the Young Turks has to say about this.
Didn't they own up to it ? they just refused any reparations. And what about 100k with much death due to conditions. A bit different then killing millions many of them kids being gassed and burned.
Since the definition has already been posted above, I'll point out the obvious that the show is hosted by young men of Turkish descend.
The numbers does not make it less worse. Indonesia killed 250,000 East Timorese but there were only 750,000 East Timorese to begin with.
The Herrero genocide is pretty esoteric information, not even remotely as mainstream as the Holocaust. Germany keeps quiet about it relative to the Holocaust and Western media and intellegensia never bring it up. Or the genocide in the Belgian congo, which saw colonisl Belgian kill 10 million ; it is also a little known fact compared to the Holocaust.
Germany takes a vocal position on condemning and remmembering the Holocaust because they are forced to by the West establishment. I don't think Germany would engage in anywhere as much self criticism over the Holocaust if they weren't pressured to do so. Plus some of it is because the Holocaust happened in Germany and Europe and the Herrero genocide was in Africa , and the victims in the later were Africans while the victims in the Holocaust were White.
Now as far as the US is concerned: both the Herrero genocide and the Holocaust happened elsewhere so the Herrero genocide should have prominent mention because the Holocaust gets prominent mention. Even accounting for the fact that the US is far more connected to and familiar with Europe and WW2 , the dearth of public mention of the Herrero genocide points to clear bias in how the Western world views atrocities . I don't expect the Herrero genocide to have exactly the same level of focus by the West as the Holocaust does but the level of focus in everyday media is essentially non-exsistent.

These people need to start getting over things
Logic dictates that the first step to make peace with a horrific historical event is to stop denying that it actually existed.
Funny thing is that today's Turkey is not the same as the Ottoman Empire, yet they still feels compelled to whitewash what the Ottomans did a century ago. What exactly do they have to lose anyway? It's not like the Romanian victims are still alive to demand reparations from an Empire that no longer exists!
i can understand old people with a chip on their shoulder but younger kids have to get over it.
I hope you means younger Turkish kids needs to get over the pointless lies, not Armenian kids who still have to deal with Ankara's insulting denials about the massacre of their families.
Why should they have to when Turkey will not admit to it? If the perpetrator keeps on denying his crime, then nothing is learned. On top of that, Turkey is still supporting Azerbaijan, their "Turkic" brothers, in its aggression towards Armenia, and attempts to embargo the country. That's insult upon injury.i can understand old people with a chip on their shoulder but younger kids have to get over it.

They all need to get over it. A 19 year has no reason to be angry.
Nonsense.
A person with family members murdered in a grand scale massacre have every reasons to be angry at the world leaders who INSISTS on continue lying a hunred years later.
Doesn't matter if that person is Native Americans, Jews, or Armenians. Doesn't matter if he's 9 or 19.
Lol ok so be angry about some relative dying in 1920
It's like me being angry at the Japanese because my. grandfather almost died in ww2.
This comparison is so retarded on so many levels, I'm not even gonna justify it with a proper reponse.
Of course they have a stake in it. The hardships your people suffered from forms a part of your identity, especially when it's a critical part of your recent history. Your perception of the world and political views are influence by it. The fact that Turkey regularly denies its atrocities is akin to someone constantly rubbing it in your face. It is made worse when Turkey provides support to Azerbaijan against Armenia.Because they have no stake in the game. They're to young it has nothing to do with them.
Just go about your life instead of holding some hated in For your entire life. Especially when it was decades before you were born. Many many many decades.
If the Japanese killed your grandparents in WWII, and still denied it ever carried out any wrongdoing. On top of that, Japan places trade sanction on your country and actively supports your enemies to contain you. You would be okay with that? If you said yes, you're lying or stupid enough to think we would buy it.Lol ok so be angry about some relative dying in 1920

Why don't you tell the Turkish government to get the fuck over their ego and apologize instead of telling offsprings of the victims to do so? Don't go full retard.
