Hot Take Tuivasa > Teixeira

I have no memory of this, man it feels like forever since Tai won.

I’m going with the Brazillian Sherdogger Tallison
BB got lucky
Tai is a belewn
Drinking a beer out of a shoe is power slap esque

This fight would be a great time to
take out the trash, empty the dishwasher or vaccum the house.

HW matches are the best time to take a break.

IDK sherbros but imo this is a big time underdog pick

Tai has destroyed fighters much better than this brawling bean pole

He’s been training overseas & has ko’d much better fighters than this inexperienced prospect who - granted has good kicks & a decent straight right- is inexperienced & leaves his head up in the air in every fight so far

If Tai is coming back for a payday then ok he’ll probably lose, but if he’s serious about a return - which I think he is - then he mops the floor with this HW James Vick

Yeah, this line is kinda ridiculous.

Tai isn't good and there's potential he's fallen off a cliff, but he's fighting a head on a stick in a division where experience is everything.

I'm with you, and Tuivasa is my Tap pick, let alone a pick based on the odds.

Every chance I'm horribly wrong and Tai gets his head kicked off his shoulders, but as it stands today... I'm not really seeing it.

Where did Tuivasa train for this fight?

Training away from home is his key to succes

Dubai
———
As part of his reset, Tuivasa left his surroundings in Australia and returned to Dubai for camp, distancing himself from distractions and comfort.
“I moved back over to the desert, I feel like I do better over there — away from my hood, away from my loved ones,” he explained.
Despite his recent record, Tuivasa remains confident that UFC’s Heavyweight division is wide open. And, in his words, ripe for disruption.
I feel like the Heavyweight division is shit, so a few more wins on this run will get me back on top with the boys,” Tuisvasa concluded.

If he took a fight seriously he would be well below 265 instead of having to cut water weight out of his fat.

Thanks, based on that i think he takes this.

Honestly I never blame Tuivasa for boring fights, it's always his opponents. To really fight Tuivasa, you got to get in the pocket and trade. But there's always an easy way to win by wrestling or striking from outside. So his fights are a mixed bag depending on if his opponent tries to strike. Atleast it seems like Texeira might be one dimensional enough to oblige.

Not quite impressed by Tallison.

I can see him using his speed to try and overwhelm Tai but his accuracy isn't going to be enough especially if he cant exhibit a clean jab on his combos.

Tai will let him sap his juice for the first part of rd 1 and then Tai, who's a dog, will absorb his toughest shots, he's always been tough to put out. Tallison will slow down slightly and that will be enough for Tai to catch him late first round or midway thru the 2nd. Tai will crumble him once Tallison realizes what a dog hes in the cage with

This is the fattest and most alcohol ravaged Tuivasa has been, as I observed him anyway. He's lost 5 in a row, and hasn't fought in 17 months, possibly at least 14 of them not taking very good care of himself. How could someone like that beat anyone in the mighy UFC? Having said that, fat, slow, old, one-dimensional Derrick beat Teixeira in the first round, and Tuivasa is likely still capable of connecting with one Hail Mary-esque devastating KO swing too.

I may not even watch this fight. Meh.

Tuivasa is certainly live.

I'm not sold on Teixeira. He has shown us nothing except a highlight reel KO on a perpetual bottom-feeder in Tafa. That's it. I mean look at Tallison's record:

Dude was a can-crusher, through and through. Even his LFA and DWCS opponents were nothing to write home about. Yeah he's big and tall, powerful, and has pretty good offensive striking for a HW. But can he fight past the first round without gassing? Dunno. Can he take a punch from fellow HWs? Dunno. Can he grapple well enough to impose that game on UFC-level opposition? Dunno. Lots of these Brazilian can-crushers from 205 and HW end up falling apart the moment they step up on competition. People say the Lewis fight was a bad stoppage and Teixeira got robbed... but maybe it was always going to end that way?

Tai on his best day has more than enough power to clip Tallison in the same way, especially since Teixeira has "tall man defense" with his chin out there for the taking. He also has devastating calf kicks.

That being said... I can't bring myself to pick Bam Bam. The guy went on a really bad skid. He seemed unable to take a punch, unable to defend himself against the ground attack, and sort of gun-shy and a step behind in most striking exchanges. Maybe this time off will have him come back looking refreshed and like the Tai of old... or maybe he'll look just as bad, if not worse with ring rust. Hard to say.
