Sociopathy would involve a persistent pattern of disregard for others rights or complete lack of empathy. Having a strong emotional reaction to someone that you believe has caused massive harm doesn't really fit that.

I'd say for the most part you'd have to understand emotions and rhetoric, especially when people are discussing heated topics and controversial figures. Aside from a few exceptions, I don't think that there are a lot of people truly in their hearts believe that everyone on other side is completely evil.
