WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he would be willing to meet Iran’s leader without preconditions to discuss how to improve ties after he pulled the United States out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, saying, “If they want to meet, we’ll meet.”

“I’d meet with anybody. I believe in meetings,” especially in cases where war is at stake, Trump said at a White House news conference when asked whether he was willing to meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

This could be a real game changer, even if only perceptually. If Trump can mitigate his terrible (IMO) decision to withdraw from the Iran Nuclear Deal by meeting with Rouhani then I think he locks up 2020 barring any major catastrophes (impeachment, economic collapse, war).

I'll still vote for Bernie, but I don't see the Dems taking back the Executive seeing as they've done nothing buy scream "Russia" for 2 years.

I'm not saying Trump is smart or good at his job, just letting you know something.

I'm not even a Trump guy, but this is positive news. Sure, take it with a grain of salt as to whether or not it happens, but its positive rhetoric around Iran for a change.

Who cares? He’s the one coming from a position of strength. You meet with your superiors if they request a meeting whether you like them, trust them or otherwise.

The Iranians basically thought they got away with murder and then some with that deal. Trump has hit them with a dose of reality. They have no choice but to respect that.

Why was it bad for him to pull out of a deal. If if was so good of a deal, then why not make it a treaty? Oh, right, because it would have NEVER FUCKING PASSED.

That deal was built on lies.
