Law UPDATE Trump says Biden Autopen pardons are invalid

If he fears oversight bad enough, I think he will.
That's all well and good, but you're forgetting the time that he was President and had every opportunity to set the precedent and didn't. You're just flailing.

Took a while to find the original post, but here it is. As it stands, Trump is stating his opinion about the validity/invalidity of the autopen pardons. I don't know how far he will attempt to establish his opinion legally, but I do accept the logic of Trump's claim. if if his current effort falls short, it will still be a good outcome if greater transparency and restrictions are placed on how and when a President may utilize the autopen.

In short, I don't think think Trump will succeed in overturning the pardons, but I applaud his effort to get this avenue of abuse closed. On commonsense (not legal) grounds I think Trump is spot on.

They should go through the pardons 1 by 1 with Joe live streaming asking him if he remembers the person's name....

Shit would be hysterical

Oh no. Electronic signatures. What are we doing to do?

This is the dumbest timeline.
Doesn't matter how dumb it is. That's really the problem here. There's so little accountability from any direction that it truly costs nothing to try and pull the most nonsensical shit just to see if any of it can get through. We're talking about a man for whom the SC conjured up criminal immunity. What's the worst that can happen here? We either treat it as a laughing stock and the courts -who are thoroughly compromised- say no, or we treat it as a laughing stock and the courts decide you know what we can rule however the fuck we want and say yes.

This is for those who took "If Johnny had 5 apples..." classes in High School.

Flailing? I gave my opinion. Take it or leave it, I don't care either way. That's how opinions and subjective statements work

The government must be more efficient, except when it comes to signing documents. Because reasons.

Are they going to even heed a judge's decision?

In a thread where it’s being discussed whether or not pardons that were auto signed are valid, you’re trying to argue that Biden’s unprecedented pardons were actually because Trump is so terrible.

It’s not a conversation worth having.

I mean, do you agree Trump only wants to undo them to do the terrible things because he is terrible?

Can you admit that much?

I'll take it...as a sign of you being a complete hypocrite.

"When my guy does it, it's justified"

"When the other guy doesn't do it, I'm gonna imagine that he will, and declare that is so much worse than when my guy did it."

LOL.

That was his exact argument too. He went past full retard to full Democrat.

What are you even talking about? I uniformly oppose preemptive pardons and would like the president to not be responsible for pardons in the first place.

Maybe once you master "but," you can master the other conjunctions in English. Remember, it's our official language now.

He said, while justifying Biden's pre-emptive pardons...

You're grasping at straws. My stance on pardons is crystal clear. Moreover, even if Trump was going to toss every one who wronged him in jail on day one, I still oppose preemptive pardons.

That I can understand why someone does something doesn't mean I agree with it.

Does understand have a different definition in Canada that no other English-speaking country uses?

I wouldn't trust Joe Biden to take my order at a drive thru Taco Bell, much less review a bunch of pardons before he signs them.

If he indeed didn't have knowledge of them then that is certainly a problem. I don't see how they could actually prove that though.

Do you think Trump has read any of his hundreds of EOs?

I can at least give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think this is worth pursuing with Biden because there's no way to prove either way. Even if he did have knowledge of them, he could have forgot 10 minutes later. It's pointless and a waste of time.

That said, I don't mind the discussion for future situations that could arise.
