The president shouldn't share this to begin with. By sharing it he's implying he supports saying white power, whether ironically or not. And it's that kind of behavior, the willingness to push the line towards racism for political purposes, that causes people to react in outrage and protest.

If you're all pissy about how crazy and vile people are acting towards their opposing political groups in the street, you need to realize it travels from the Top down.

You simply supported exactly what I wrote: I specifically said Trump did qualify his "fine people" statement when pressed by alarmed reporters by claiming he was making a distinction between the tiki torch'ers and the landmark defenders.

You also supported my prediction that even in light of this 2020 "white power" retweet many of his voters would still accept his Charlotte qualification as a sincere or informative statement.

Trump clearly considers "neo-Nazi's" and "white nationalists" to be people who officially affiliate and identify with organized groups openly operating under this banner. So, in his world, there could be racists at Charlotte who personally believed in the superiority of the white race but as long as they weren't actual, card-carrying members of such groups they could be "fine people".
