Brits are digging their own grave.

Trump cannot wait for UK to leave EU so he can finally enter UK markets. Start with privatising NHS so people will be forced to pay quarter of their wage monthly for a healthcare.

Brits see US as a special partner. Trump see UK as a lucrative market.

Just as he offered my country a supply of American gas instead of Russian. Like he said 'you dont have to rely on Russians no longer, we will provide American gas instead. Although it will be a bit expensive than Russian'

If you compare our tax rates I probably break even at that rate

The NHS and Medicare[Australia] and not forgetting the one in NZ[can't recall the name] has been really good to my during my lifetime.

We already have the option of going private with our medical care.

Us British are proud of the NHS as a practical and moral right.

It is however, very expensive to maintain, especially with people coming from overseas just to use it.

It's way more expensive when the conservative party in England decides to fuck with the market and withhold money, which leads to massive shortfalls in quality and time of treatment.

Lol. Like any Brit is going to want a shittier US version of healthcare at a higher cost.

According to OECD data, the UK spends an average of $4,192 per head of population, for a universal system. Life expectancy in the UK in 2015 was 81.56.
The American health care system is the most expensive in the world: $9,892 per head, yet 28 million have no health insurance and life expectancy in 2015 was 78.7.

It would help if the Tories weren’t trying to privatise the fucker.

Tories privatising the rail network worked out well as well...

People have the optIon of private healthcare if they want it.

Yeah it seems to me (as a non UK person) that the protests were not so much against the NHS as they were against the Tories plans for the NHS..

Correct me if I'm wrong and please excuse the oversimplification.

With the conservatives the NHS would be crushed under the weight of mass immigration, health care tourism, frivolous wasteful use by uneducated natives and the selling of assets and aggressive cost cutting contract holders.

With Labour it will limp along for a while longer with the aid of increased taxation until it is inevitably crushed by mass immigration, health care tourism, frivolous wasteful use by uneducated natives and inefficient bloated management structures.

I will miss the NHS.

Pretty much everything they privatised was a fucking shitbomb
Thatcher was a disaster for the country
National assets worth billions sold off on the cheap to her buddies who cut corners and slashed staff to sell the same thing but with shittoer services and higher prices

National Insurance is a bargain for most, considering the wide range of services it pays for. Increase National Insurance by 1% for all, and it'd be more than enough to keep the NHS going. You don't need to go through the costly effort of replacing National Insurance with a new 'Healthcare tax' proposed by the Lib Dems, just raise funds through an increase to the NHS Surcharge payment (paid by all non EU migrants) and a small increase to national insurance (an increase that most wouldn't feel in their bottom line), meanwhile cutting back on any unnecessary management positions and platinum public pensions that have bloated the NHS.

The solution is simple. The problem is the cunts running the system know how lucrative (For them) short changing the taxpayer and selling off public assets to their friends is. (see British Rail, Royal Mail etc.,)

It would be a monumental disaster if the NHS and medical care in general is allowed to go the same way Rail and Transport did in this country (mass privatisation leading to a worse service at an extortionate rate with the taxpayer still subsidising large parts of it).
