Trump: Government will not reopen until we have a wall, a fence, whatever they want to call it

It's called leverage. I don't care about pussies who whine about not having it.

Welcome to the world of hard power calculation.

I hope Trump nukes the 60-40 rule. They aren't willing to work together, everything is politics. Let the majority rule. Let's make our votes count again.

When I vote for someone, and they win. I want their policies actually implemented.
I don't think you understand how checks and balances work

It is shitty that Trump does it and it would be shitty if Bernie does it. And btw, Bernie is smart enough to know that and I think it would be highly unlikely he would use such a tactic.

In this case being a hypocrite would move you to a better understanding of things, so I support it!

I don't think so man. Believe it or not, our country won't collpase because the government isn't running.

On the other hand, not having a functioning glass-steagal act just might.

I would 100,000% support shutting down the government to re-institute banking regulation.

That was my thought too but it may be scarier - he may not agree with having a system of checks and balances!

I’ll gladly give Trump his Wall for universal healthcare.

That’s a deal I’m willing to make any day of the week
Funnily enough he floated the idea of universal healthcare, I think he mentioned it on 60 Minutes. Someone in his team probably nixed that though

Say what you want, but I notice that when Trump sent his sad Christmas Eve tweet, that the part the media left out, was that he was still at work, trying to make a deal, while everyone else took their ball and went home.

Looks bad on Democrats when the 1/3rd of the year they work, is too much.

He was trying to make a deal? You know this for a fact because... tweet?

Indeed, but I think he could make a smaller concession. But the master fucking dealmaker only knows bully tactics, apparently.

Well he’s obviously a glorified used car salesman. Calling him a master dealmaker Is like saying a blind Man is a master at seeing. Lol

Lol, when the Senate votes for war, this comment won't seem absurd.
I have a lot of issues with our political and economic system but having straight up authoritarianism isn't the answer

Because he stood in front of cameras, and said he was still in the white house trying to make a deal.

I don't blame you for not knowing that. The media certainly didn't tell you this.

Dems do own it. As Barack said, elections have consequences. Trump won election on building a border wall. Fund it.

Lol trump chumps are so cute. Trump cheered in tweets in the past for a shut down by repubs to stop ACA funding. Now he cries when thetes a shut down to not fund a tiny portion of his tard wall.

It's hilarious how Trump shit talked obama on twitter in the past for a shut down during his admin, only to have it shut down under himself.

You guys and your clown shoes orange daddy are a hoot. I mean the fucking idiot tweeted a pic of himself signing blank paper.

So when you can be voted out of office for your performance in the next election, and your policies can be overturned, this is authoritatianism in what way?

So you think Trump was trying to make a deal because... he said so?

Are you part of the daddy don’t lie camp? Lol

Trump is a joke in every way. One day you will realize this

If you don't agree on everything then I won't help with anything

Shut up! I'm the President and if you don't shut up, I'll tweet some very bad things. <DC-Champ><DC-Champ><DC-Champ><DC-Champ>

So....How long you think this shutdown lasts, MC?

I say it lasts into February.

I think Trump was trying to create bad optics for the Demcorats, by staying at work, while everyone else went home.

Probably would have worked if the media wasn't propagandists.

If you're going to be condescending at least use the spell check man.

I'm aware of the damage shutdowns cause and no, it's not catastrophic. But there is a process for signing bills into law, you know. This is a bully tactic used by Trump to fulfill a campaign promise to help his reelection chances and to save his image. So no, we should not be supporting this type of behavior exhibited by our political leaders.

Also, not in every way. He got us out of Syria, and is half way to getting out of Afghanistan.

Only insane people don't support this.

The president being able to completely override the democratic processes seems pretty authoritarian to me
