This should be fun.

And if the government is shut down, who will send our kids off to war?

Just remember this when he caves, because he will, like always. Eventually even he'll realize that his bargaining position is not one of equality or power as the days go by.

He could've had 25bil earlier in the year. Too bad, baby.

He already caved. He said on film he'd be proud to shut down the government. Then he tweets that "dems own the shutdown".

He's a man-baby.

He's like the owner of the company who just bought the coal mine, and thinks the best idea to extract coal is to flatten the entire mountain into a stream to let the water do the work for you.

This is fucking stupid.

Can someone explain what is the problem? Is it still cost? Would some barbed wire and land mines serve the purpose better? Should we simply allow what has happened across Europe to happen here?

We need open borders and we need them now.

There are technological and manpower solutions used in concert that would be more cost effective, and not a massive waste of money. Maybe it's ok to realize that a wall is a boondoggle in classic Trump fashion, and would be even worse considering it would be made of tariff steel.

...land mines?

Say what you want, but I notice that when Trump sent his sad Christmas Eve tweet, that the part the media left out, was that he was still at work, trying to make a deal, while everyone else took their ball and went home.

Looks bad on Democrats when the 1/3rd of the year they work, is too much.

The wall is a stupid idea in every measurable way. It is a political idea- not a practical one. Technology can do well, what the wall pretends it can do.

No democrats want open borders, no one wants to just let everyone in willy nilly. Trump uses the wall idea to rile up his base even though it is not an effective way to keep people out. Not to mention it is ridiculously expensive to build.

Normally I would agree with you but in this case Trump is being an unreasonable baby and it only makes him look bad. The dems were ready and willing to come to a compromise but Trump said no compromise and I am shutting the government down till I get my way. Sad.

No he isn't. This is what he ran on.

If someone from the left did this, the base would love it.

If you actually believe in something you should fight for it.

I think the wall is stupid, e-verify is the way to go, but this is one of the main reasons why many people voted for Trump.

He should fight for what he ran on.

Technology can do well...
Technology has not been working thus far, i think we agree there.

And lol as the...

And no one's really talking about the cost of the recently approved 33 mile stretch of "wall". US taxpayers will be paying the contractor 22 million dollars per mile. One of Trump's buddies will be making a fucking killing. Crooked Donny, swamp drainer extraordinaire.

(Under Obama similar fencing sections were erected for an average of about 2 million per mile.)

One thing I have been wondering... As a non-American with a long undefended border, which I'm rather fond of for humanitarian reasons, I oftentimes see numbers about Hungarian and Israeli border walls/fences being posted as a defense of the idea of a U.S. wall. For the wall detractors, what do you make of such claims?

And articles like this about Hungary's wall/fence/whatever:

(I believe that graphic is supposed to represent drops in illegal crossings)

With how politicized this issue is in America, I don't really trust the Right Wing positions on this in the slightest and I expect there is a "but..." that they don't mention. What I'm wondering is, what is the response to Left leaning posters on this? Are such claims of effective barriers elsewhere credible, or are such numbers misleading/inaccurate? Is comparing Hungary and Israel to the US Southern border apples to oranges? If so, why? Curious to hear the two sides of this sound off on these often repeated talking points.

He has literally never caved on anything. He has done mostly what he wants up until now - whether they were the correct choices is another matter. Stop lying.
