"A Donald Trump supporter in Texas is facing an assault charge after he was accused of punching an election clerk who was escorting him out of a polling site for refusing to take his red “Make America Great Again” cap off.

The violent incident occurred Thursday evening in San Antonio during the state’s first week of early voting when 63-year-old Jesse Lutzenberger was asked to remove his hat to comply with Texas election rules, according to media reports. State law prohibits a person from wearing “a badge, insignia, emblem, or other similar communicative device relating to a candidate, measure, or political party appearing on the ballot.”

Lutzenberger removed his hat and cast his ballot, but reportedly put the hat back on while still inside the building, officials said.

An election clerk told him that was unacceptable," Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar told news station KENS5. He told the outlet that as the 69-year-old poll worker was in the process of escorting Lutzenberger out, he “allegedly turned physical, throwing his arm and then ‘several punches’ at the clerk before leaving.”"
