Trump breaking American COVID Deaths into Red and Blue.

Jesus. So many times I have said to myself the man can't sink any lower. But he always manages to amaze me with just how disgraceful he can be.

This is one of the sickest, most fucked up things I have seen a President do.

On top of the pure vileness of framing it this way, the statements are, in true Trump fashion, lies.

“The blue states had tremendous death rates,” Trump said. “If you take the blue states out, we’re at a level that I don’t think anybody in the world would be at, we’re really at a very low level.”

Trump’s boast wasn’t even factually accurate; as many critics pointed out on social media, the United States would still have one of the world’s worst tolls from the virus even without deaths from “blue” states.

According to data collected by The New York Times, 3 of the top 6 states in terms of deaths have Republican governors and 5 of the top 10 voted for Trump in 2016.

Unbelievable.

Interesting. There certainly has been a difference in how blue and red states have reacted to the virus. The two main difference have to do with economic shut downs to sending infected COVID patients to live with the most vulnerable Americans, the elderly in nursing homes. I hope there eventually is an investigation into what happened with nursing homes, as that action undoubtably led to many deaths. New York has been the most famous state involved in doing this, but others such as New Jersey, and California did similar for a time.

The article isn't trying to make this a football game against red and blue states.

The President of the United States is trying to downplay the virus again, this time on the basis that only blue states are being hurt so it's not his problem. The statement isn;t just morally repugnant it's not even close to being accurate.
