WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump blocked the release of a memo written by Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee as a rebuttal to allegations from their Republican counterparts that the FBI abused surveillance laws to improperly spy on the Trump campaign.

In a letter to the House Intelligence Committee on Friday, White House counsel Don McGahn said that while the president is “inclined” to declassify the memo, he will not “at this time” due to it containing “numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages.”

hahaha

Whatever. Do over in a few years anyway. I'm just enjoying this ride.

He said it was "Garbage Juice". I tend to agree.

My prediction.

The liberals of this thread will be bringing a whole lot of this:
<DCrying>

Not surprising in the least. Total authoritarian behavior.

Do you not at least entertain the idea that the Dems purposefully put some information in their memo that couldn't be released, just to grab those "Trump Blocks Dem Memo!!" headlines?

I actually think that would be a smart strategy on their part, to make it look like Trump was being shady.

To be fair, I could also see it being a case of Trump just fucking with them, but I'm leaning towards Dems using this worthless rebuttal, to a memo very few really gave a shit about, as a weapon.

Why are these fucking clowns passing notes back and forth?

Better yet, why are people getting suckered into caring about this bullshit?

No because it passed with unanimous consent in the house...those republicans know damn well how bad it looks to release a partisan memo, then block the opposing memo

We have presidential elections every 4 years.
Yes. I just think that’s kind of a flippant way to put it considering the damage Trump is doing. I thought you were a Trump person so I wasn’t sure.

It looks bad to people who already hate Trump to an insane degree. Other people are already sick of being underrepresented in the media, so it's most likely just turnabout.

I still believe in what he campaigned on but our gov't is a trainwreck right now.

We'll see.

Ultimately, I think it's still going to be released. We'll have to judge how significant the redacted info is then. If it never gets released, it was definitely Trump just fucking with them.

Getting a good chuckle now over all of the "how could a memo be a national security concern" posts in the old Nunes-memo thread.

We have scope insensitivity. Our brains are overly-drawn to drama because they developed in 100-person villages where this type of thing had a huge effect on our own lives and who we need to trust and work with. Now we're stuck to it in a world where it involves people who have no effect on our lives at all.

The American people chose Trump. You don't get to nullify the election just because you don't like the results.

You have a chance to remove President Trump from power in November of 2020. Not a minute sooner.
