Fedor Emelianenko. Anderson Silva. Jon Jones. (maybe you want to throw in Conor McGregor, Sage Northcutt, Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey as well).

These are the fighters that have constantly been in the GOAT MMA discussion lately, so it seems people have now forgotten about Georges St. Pierre being one of the GOATs in MMA. GSP has been called out for not finishing, but in hindsight, it seems GSP's value as MMA GOAT has become underrated over time. As a Fedor fan, I also thought GSP deserves the GOAT title more than the Russian. He's more athletic and a more complete fighter than Jones, and has faced better competition than Anderson. Silva just does it in a more spectacular fashion. And GSP has beaten everyone he has faced.

Your thoughts?
 
Under or over rated. He's the undisputed GOAT. That's good enough for me.

The GOAT is Fedor. He is the only one who has fought at HW. Anderson and Jones are interchangeable. Anderson has won gold in three divisions. GSP is after them. He is at a lighter weight. Incredible fighter, but none of the highlight reel results, nor has he risked himself above WW.
 
Like every fighter who ever lived, he is both vastly underrated and vastly overrated on Sherdog.
 
GSP is now the GOAT, thanks to Jones juicing. Fedor could have been if he didn't fight so many trash opponents in between the good ones. Losing to an older and smaller Hendo was pretty damning on him that's for sure.
 
I think that as time passes, people forget how good Georges really is. As a fan, I was worried about certain match ups (Condit in particular) and he always proved me wrong. He was the best in the division in virtually every category. He put on MMA clinics against high-level opponents and made it look easy.

If and when GSP comes back, I really feel that he'll once again prove the haters wrong.
 
If I'm not mistaken he got a pretty good chunk of the pie on the latest shertard GOAT poll. Which is impressive because the vast majority of this site is a fedor cult where posters perform human sacrifice on Jones-Anderson-Aldo fans who they were able to kidnap and lock up into small cages.

Why is fighting some cans in between top fighters a bad thing though? Why does Fedor get that treatment for taking extra fights? A lot of fighters would do the same for money.

You're correct that it's a stupid argument to make. If we compare GSP, Anderson, and Fedor's top wins, I think GSP's resume is better. He also avenged his losses and went out on top. That's the argument to make. You don't determine greatness by looking at someone's worst fights.

Regardless, no disrespect to Fedor or Anderson.
 
Thoughts? You should be banned for putting names like Conor and Sage in a GOAT discussion.

Anderson and Jones are cheaters.

Fedor's legacy is a joke after his freak show fights and getting fucked up by Hendo (a MW). I am not even going to say anything about the fact he was never really tested.

GSP is the one true GOAT.

GSP was a yawn-inducing fighter who couldn't even finish his career. Dryhumping your way to victory is not GOAT-worthy.
