Yeah, it gets very uncomfortable after a few rounds. It makes me sweat and the cheeks don't make it easy to breathe
 
Damn, so that's the major flaw to the FG-2900 eh?

ANY headgear makes one sweat a lot more, regardless of what type or kind imo. I know some headgear isn't as bad but I don't think headgear will ever keep you cool unless you just went without headgear
 
Nawh man, my campeon headgear doesnt make me sweat nearly as much. by round 4 i'm still okay with the campeon, while if i was to wear the fg2900 i'd be spwelling sweat with every deep exhale.

Imo the synthetic leather is to blame, along with the cheeks being so close to your mouth and nose. My campeon headgear protects REALLY good without sacrificing vision, getting so sweaty and getting tired.

My conclusion is that if the campeon was just as light and a bit slimmer in profile than the 2900, it would be just as good if not better.
 
Wow that's crazy, GB can you take a pic of the FIT of the campeon and put it in the Mexican forum? I really would like to see how it sits.

I have a video i put up in the stand-up fourm of me wearing it while sparring. I'm in school now, so i'll send it after.
 
Does campeon make a face bar fg5k style? Sounds attractive based on what you've said. Also man, pay attention in class lol

As for the fg5000 i believe campeon doesnt make such a thing, and even if they did, i'm assuming it'd be near the price of a bill facesaver which in my opinion would be superior.

I can't wait to place my order for the custom winning headgear.
 
Custom fg5k? Or you mean the open face amateur headgear?

Yeah most face savers are terrible imo in the last year or so theyve come a loooong way. Which is why i bought bills.
 
Yep I've heard many are just heavy, the bar just smashes into your nose while hit and doesn't serve it's purpose, bar sits way too low, besides the bar the rest of the headgear is rock hard and leaves your head rattling with a headache afterwards etc,

I think it's come a long way since as Mayweather said himself, "fighter's don't like no contact" anymore. With more fighters using fg5k's to protect their noses etc, the market for that kind of headgear is getting more competitive. Personally, I'm fine with no contact lol...my first headgear that I can say I own will be a facesaver. Probably will be fg5k and not bill's just because i'm assuming I'll have the money by that time. Although Bill's customization may make me change my mind when that time comes.
 
I meant the open face winning headgear, i already have an fg 5000 and i'm not too fond of it. I'm a very slick boxer and i just love to box. In my opinion the fg 5000 is more for a inside fighter, or a guy who wants to test out his conditioning more. I use it more when I know for a fact i'm sparring somebody a lot better than me. But that hasen't happened in a LONG time, I'ts still a good thing to have laying around just in case
 
I've seen quite a few slick boxers at the MBC using an FG5K, I don't really agree with that statement. However I can see the perspective that the lighter FG2.9K is a good idea if you plan to be shoulder rolling due to it's weight and increased visibility over the 5k. I don't think it's that slick boxers shouldn't use an FG5k, I see it more as if you shoulder roll the fg5k is not as effective. You don't have to shoulder roll to be considered slick.
 
Yeah, i used to use mexican headgear but bloody noses got old after awhile during training. With the beaulieu facesaver i have like 0 downtime and no nagging bloody noses

I'm not gonna list them all for you since I know you are more than capable of finding this yourself if you put any effort into looking since I know you're probably subscribed to chris robinson yourself. Just look at all the sparring videos and you'll find quite a few.

One example I found in 15 seconds searching mayweather boxing club sparring on youtube lol You can't possibly think shawn porter is not slick in any way shape or form.

 
You have a bealieu facesaver Gixx? I thought the Classics is still considered a mexican headgear is it not?

I was just referring to wearing a facesaver due to bloody noses sucking

but yeah, I have a Cleto Reyes classic Mexican style headgear, and then the Classics facesaver. Also have an open face competition Adidas headgear, but have not used in sparring or a fight yet. I have a weak nose, lol. Well it just bleeds easily, it doesn't really bother me or anything, but it's annoying, so I have been wearing my facesaver more often than the Reyes. Since I have plans to compete, I don't always wear the facesaver since I need to remember what it feels like to have leather hit my nose, but it is nice not having to worry about my nose as much.

I am thinking about getting Bills facesaver when I get some gloves though, I really like the Classics facesaver though
