He's a good coach but how can he let his fighter take that kind of appraoch to mma? justin will be suffering in a few years if he keeps this stuff up and whats really sad is that justin has some real potential. His leg kicks could set up a finish against alot of guys and it could also set up his wrestling background making the takedown very easy. Sadly though while hes banging away at those leg kicks he taking 5-10 punches to the face with zero defense.and its not just the fact he doesn't seem to have the ability to defend.. he doesn't even want to!! He think he can homer simpson his way to a win having his opponent tire of punching him in the face? If i was coaching this type of fighter I'd make him fight intelligently and tweak his style massively or i would refuse to trian him. Because hes going to end up dying from this. Probably not in the ring.. but his life will get cut short taking 300+ punches to the fucking face a fight then getting knocked out.

Justin was nearly crying as he exited the ring so he actually thinks fighting like this is a path to victory.. he was fighting to win not just to put on a great show and clearly disappointed that he lost. How hasn't trevor wittman taught him better?

How do you know Gaethje did what his coaches told him to do?
Gaethje employs them after all and not the other way around.

Call him up and tell him coach he's probably by the phone awaiting your call as you type on sherdog

THUG ROSE!!!!

Some fighters are just plain unteachable, there's a good chance Gaethje is one of those guys.

Put it this way, Leonard Garcia and Diego Sanchez have been with Jackson-Wink for pretty much their entire careers and they still stand & bang till they get finished.

Forget the name of the show but ufc had a promo for the fights.. road to the octagon or some shit? By the way he spoke he had no intenton adjusting justins style.. even though it clearly isnt going to work for him.. the way they spoke on that and his eddie fight i knew justin was going to run into another ko loss because no one stood up and told him no.

Wittman and Gaethje both plainly say so.

You have to mold a fighters style based on their temperament and personality

there have been many examples of brawlers throughout combat history. He can improve his defense but he isnt gonna be fighting like Lyoto Machida all of a sudden

Just watch the Rose vs JJ fight, it can't be down to Wittman?

Any trainer with a 2 time state champion wrestler who won his titles in that building would surely want him to use it?

You might be right but from his other fighters it doesn't seem to make sense that Wittman wants him to fight like that. If everyone watching can see what's going on you'd assume an experienced coach can too.

I was going to bring up Garcia too. These are the same people that train Holms and Jon Jones. Each fighter is different. And some guy's just do what works for them. Keep in mind Gaethje was unbeaten till a few fights a go. This is only the 2nd loss of his career.

As entertaining as it is to watch, if that was someone I knew and cared for I'd be like wtf are you doing to yourself bro.

After two KO/TKO losses, Gaethje will go back to his roots...and expose how terrible of a fighter he truly is.

Guy loses 2 fights for the first time in his career after being undefeated, and all of a sudden his coach should be ashamed.

Gotta love the interwebz

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
I really think you're way off here, I'm sure they've mentioned it at some point that getting hit in the head alot isn't smart, and Justin really should not need to be even told... what can his coach do if Justin says nope I wanna bang train me for that THAT'S THE PLAN? He's just backing what his fighter wanted there.

Yes when you send a fighter out to make the exact same potential fatal mistakes and approach you gotta be held accountable. How can ypu send a guy out to block punches with his face? Especially after suffering a ko loss 1 fight ago. When you lose you need to improve.. you need to realize your mistake and change.. and if you cant realize it the people around you need to.

Do you see how he fights??

He seemed to be okay with justins approach to fighting which i find disturbing.. if it works then fine.. but the moment it doesnt.. you have to change

When Dustin changed stances, Justin should have shot an outside single, Dustin's leg was battered, he didn't have a leg to stand on to defend it.

i dont understand why justin doesnt decide to grapple more
