Tour de France 7/01/2022

@Zebra Cheeks

Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme is in seventh heaven over the fact that he said yes to the logistical challenge of letting the world's biggest cycling race start in Denmark.

- I have received many calls and messages from people in France who say: "Wow, what an enthusiasm, so many people, what a success", says Prudhomme to TV 2 SPORT.

- We knew there would be enthusiasm and Tour fever, but it exceeded all our expectations. There are so many smiling people. It is amazing and very touching every single day.

And then he just finished saying what he has learned to say in Danish:

- I love Denmark.
I’m terms of fan presence I’ve never seen an opening week this popular. Denmark came out in full force and it was fantastic.

gave us many good moments and I was really impressed overall. So far the highlights of the tour for me are the rainy TT, and the crowd presence in Denmark.

Just wild all around. Sad we get a 1 day rest but we hit the ground running next week

first actual threat to pogacar today. He was out of position going into this climb. It was more like a hill, very small. But by god, the man steps away for one moment and this is the reaction. You can see in the distance a white Jersey, that’s him, and he catches up and did not lose time to the other contenders. But gives you an idea of his status right now. It’s still public enemy number 1.

Has Fugueslag started riding backwards and flipping off the other racers because he is so far ahead yet, or does that start next week?

Lets get ready to rumble
