I find myself somewhat fascinated by stories of men who are a cut above the rest in toughness, fighting ability, etc. I'm not talking professional fighters of any kind, but those outside the fight game who are just somehow tougher than everyone else.

For example, for some reason, it's fun to hear things like old WWF shoot interviews with their stories of some of the tough guys in the pro wrestling industry (though of course, there are falsehoods and embellishments). Or just stories you hear offhand about incredibly gritty and apparently indestructible people -- this link contains an interesting one about a former soldier: http://www.reasonablefaith.org/proof-of-the-resurrection. What is it that makes certain people this way?

Would be interesting to hear whether anyone on here knows of people like this. Thanks for thoughts.

A small friend of mine that is a ball of muscles.
I've seen him in crazy amounts of street fights against big guys messing around with him, thinking that he's an easy target.
He also got in a car crash that put him in a coma for a while and he came back like nothing had happened.
Apart from the fact that his teeth got all messed up.

Some ex-prison psycho that looked like Tyson covered in tribal tatts that I met while I was living in Fiji... You'd never believe the stories - stories like Haku from WWF. Insane strength, resilience and rage.

My sister. Graduated from Oxford university despite being raped at knifepoint by a "man" who lived near her campus and who remained part of her wider circle of friends, in her final year.

That's real toughness.

A real woman in 2016 would cut his dick off and be praised by her friends and the guy would thank her.

202-1 Street fighting record. Was undefeated for years until he hit the bottle too hard. Never seen a run like that, and don't think we ever will again.

That's not the type of toughness TS was looking for IMO.

Vigo the Carpathian. He was poisoned, shot, stabbed, hung, stretched, disemboweled, drawn and quartered. Just before his head died, he uttered this prophetic warning: "Death is but a door. Time is but a window. I'll be back!"

Very cool, but a little off-topic since you didn't know him.

I see what you're saying. I meant people that aren't somehow historically famous, i.e., either someone you know or have somehow come across by hearsay that other people wouldn't really know about. Sorry for confusion.

If youre only listening to old WWF shoot interviews then youre basically missing out on all the great stories that have ever been told in the pro rasslin shoot interview business
I'd branch out a little if I was you

Yeah, I only skimmed the opening post. My point stands, though. Fighting doesn't make you tough, in my opinion. Dealing with the horrors that can happen in a lifetime does.

My grandpa was trimming one of the family's apple trees. The ladder wasn't tall enough, so he stood on the lower branches, climbed a bit, and proceeded to trim the upper part. He fell from the tree and was rushed to the nearest hospital.

The scar he got ranges from the below his sternum all the way down to one side of the inner thigh, near his mighty bollocks, with the scar tissue being close to an inch wide. A branch ripped his flesh open.

How the fuck the oldman didn't die I don't know, since so many things could have gone wrong.
