Firstly I do appreciate his aggressive fight style but honestly his toolset is very outdated. He has power you need to respect but there are so many holes in his game that you need to wonder how far he can go in the division without drastic changes. His footwork is plodding, off balance and I don't understand why no one has corrected how prone he is to counters simply due to being constantly flatfooted. Also glaringly evident is how the hell can you possibly close on your opponent with your hands hanging down around your waist ? Are these yes man around him former trainers of Brock Lesnar ? Basic fundamentals of mma dictate, keep your your hands up so you don't constantly get kicked, jabbed and countered in the mouth.

Mentally the man seems also suspect, almost to what we saw in Palhares once his gameplan failed he shuts down and starts to crumble. It seems like Mike just shut down halfway through the second and refused to adjust his gameplan when he saw charging was clearly not working. Maybe he was already gassed due to the muscle the man walks around with but it seemed he just gave up early in the fight. Mike was lucky he wasn't facing a ground specialist because with that flat footed habit of his he seems very vulnerable to take downs and having his legs chopped down in short order.

Anyways, the guy is a great slugger but super one dimensional and honestly I don't think he's anywhere near championship material.

Jouban wasn't THAT impressive either TBH. He moves back in a straight line. Showing the same weakness that resulted in his Tumenov loss.

Perry looked god awful though

Gotta agree I was liking Mike's aggressive nature in fights but noted it was not always controlled and just based on brute force & ignorance which is fine for a guy like me. But a professional fighter needz a real fight IQ and Mike Perry and his corner showed absolutely none.

I saw no adjustments by the Platinum one just a desperate man trying hard to lay some form of any heavy hand on Jouban. Jouban schooled & tooled Mike Perry don't just rely on raw power sometimes you have to fight using your head.

I agree partially since Jouban was wobbly maybe twice due to being caught but his game plan was solid. He could have relied more on Aldo style leg strikes to slow Mike's ridiculous charging forward strategy. To Joubans credit he mixed up his strikes really well from top to mid body , I did have to laugh at all his Condit back pedalling tho. Should have scored takedowns instead.
 
He's just a failed boxer with good power who tried his hand at mma. unfortunatley he is good at neither.
I will say however that he's a good banger and will make for entertaining fights with lesser opponents.

Was disappointed that Perry didn't just go apeshit. It's what I expected. But he just seemed gun shy.

His defence wasnt that bad, completely nullified perry's best weapon the right hand, he hardly threw it cause jouban was never in position. Countered beautifully, copped a couple weak kicks. Thats about it
 
I don't see much of a UFC future for this guy. Getting beat up sucks bad enough but getting beat up by a pretty boy that has 10 years on you really sucks.

Agreed. after he got clocked from the straight left he had jouban backed into a corner but threw nothing. he choked or something. i thought he stil might get the ko at some stage.
