Top King Super Air 16oz

Thanks for the review. I was thinking about buying these in either 10oz or 12oz and seems like well-made gloves. I hope it's not too tight tho. I'm still having some problem fitting into my tight boon 10oz that I got a month ago.
 
Just got these. Hand compartment IS really tight, will try the sock method. They are better than Windy's thai glove for sure. Knuckle protection is amazing, and good for sparring partners. My only gripe is that it is not as compact as fairtex's. The inside however is more comfy than fairtex's bgv1 liner. I will wait and see how it compares to the bgv1 breathable I have coming in. It will come down between that and these top kings.

For me it's Fairtex Breathable BGV1B hands down.

My 16oz Super Airs weighed in at 13.6 and 13.7oz on a postal scale.So if you wanna get away with using lighter gloves deemed "16oz" that's what'd you go for. In it's defense the padding on the super air is superior or at least comparable to other 16oz gloves out of the box.

My BGV1B weighed in at 15.9 and 16.2. The 16oz BGV1B are more compact than the Super Airs, Windy's (16.6oz), Hayabusa Ikusa (16.4oz), KOFG (16.6oz), and Cageside Edge gloves(15.7oz). They are also more compact than 14oz Twins. The hand compartment is described as "Tight Fit" but there is enough room for hand wraps to fit comfortably. It's nowhere near as tight as the Super Airs.

The mesh on the BGV1B is not better or worse than the Super Airs. I think the leather is better because it doesn't bunch up as much. I do like the black wrist logo on the Super Airs because it won't look dirty after a while like the Fairtex wrist logo. There is a grip bar i the palm unlike the old BGV1 and a piece of molded foam in the fingertips for comfort when you make a fist.

The standard BGV1 has the fingertip molding as well, although it lacks the grip bar.

Got the same exact pair of Boons and Twins. Got a pair of Fairtex too

Boons are by far the best out of the bunch. Been using them 3 times a week for 2 years and they still look new

So after my last post I took these gloves and stuffed socks in them. Left them like that until yesterday. Wrapped my hands and put these on just to hit the bag in my garage for a few rounds. Low and behold they were actually comfortable. The stuffing seemed to stretch them out just enough to where my wrapped hand was still snug but not anaconda squeeze tight like they used to be. Back into rotation these go.

Decided to try a pair of Top King's and when I first tried it on, I could barely fit in them. Guess I need to stuff more in. After 2 days of being stuffed, it still tight as hell
 
Top kings are made tight. VERY TIGHT. You have to break them in hard and stuff them. They used to borderline be uncomfortable for me when I formed a fist, however I stuffed them DAILY with socks and wraps. Its all in where you stuff them.

You have to put the stuffing right where the glove starts to bend for the fingers, and in the thumb as well. I did this and they work amazing. Without a doubt a very quality glove. I have grown to like the fit so much, I ordered a 10 oz pair for bag work in red (I wear red gloves and black gear to pay homage to Tyson lol). I really love how snug they are now, it makes punching responsiveness so much better. I have a pair of ringside 16oz because they go by ounce weight for sizes, and I have a good 2 inches of space in the glove for my hand to roll around in.

It is important to note that MOST thai gloves (Fairtex, windy, top king) will have the same hand compartment, with lighter padding around it, as opposed to less ounce weight the smaller the glove, and vice versa. I wonder why this is? Some American companies seem to link ounce weight to glove size. Huh... I digress.

Top kings do require a long break in and stretching but their performance is up there with the best, dare i say surpassing Fairtex, windy and Boon, although boon is hard to beat for the money.
 
My TopKings 16oz did break in. but theyre freakin huge. great for blocking shots though LOL. But a little too big i think. I agree on the boons. nice gloves. but i have problems with them in clinch because theyre very hard to open and grab. anybody having those probs with boon?

Do you think they are that big?

Maye cause I'm 6'3 it doesnt bother me as much. They DO HAVE A LOT OF PADDING ON THE BACK of the hand but I thought that was normal. The boon is bigger then the top king width wise for sure, i describe the Boon as "flatter" like a fairtex where TK is more of a rounder profile.
 
I got the older version. i just compared to the new model. The old version is bigger. Sorry! I will definetly try the new ones. Top King is a great pair of gloves. glad they sorted the size problem.
 
Oh ok good lol. I was gonna ask how compact the other gloves you ahve are if you thought top king was big. I have heard from more than one person they made a lot of significant design changes for the "new" models, but I guess that measn the SUPER series is the new line.
 
Anybody know when the model change occurred? I.e. when the made the switch from the "old" models to the "new" models? Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. All I ever see is top king "SUPER AIR" and JUST found out they make an all leather palm variant.

The all leather variant has been around since the company started though. It's probably that the Super Air is most commonly stocked in North American market retailers so they're most commonly seen.

How the TK compare to Twins or Fairtex in regards to the finger pocket ? I have long fingers and find the Twins too short. The Fairtex fits pretty good. Even the breathable one. My hands are normal in size, its just those damn long fingers lol
