When Buffer inteoduces fighters as “karate guy or Look See Doo fighter or thug juitsu” its for theatrical purposes. The time of one ma vs another has long died. everybody in ufc today is an mma fighter.

According to GSP, his take downs are all karate. He just has good single double leg finishes

But he says a lot of things like aliens.

- same year he backpedals and firas zehabi says for him: no, it was a language barier, he thought s&c was synonym for bodybuilding

I don't know Whittaker for one doesn't fight even remotely like karate fighter and Whitakker also has black belt in Hapkido.

GSP has never in his whole mma career used “Karate's Nage waza (投げ技, throwing techniques)“, nothing about any of his takedowns or takedown defense is karate related. The man learned from many famous bjj and wrestling coaches including gracies and Ledford and rolled with a bunch of adcc champs on regular bases, thats where his grappling comes from.
As for his striking, having one of the best boxing trainers in history whenever u need him in freddie roach makes life easier.
Gsp has vast connections of aches around the world too, like when he flew over muay thai fighter/gym owner jean-charles from france to fuck uo the cast on TUF. The man trained in both JackWink and Tristar.

GSP has the most preveleged background I have ever seen of an mma fighter. He does not owe anything of his accomplishments to his mom dropping him at karate class back in junior high.

GSP has a karate background but he doesn't really represent the style in the same way that Wonderboy and Machida do. He also got beat up by a stubby armed wrestler and tapped to strikes against a bloated 5'6 grappler.
