So, back in the days of Fedor dominating, lots of people questioned the competition level of Combat Sambo. It was being said that Sports Sambo > Combat Sambo in terms of competition, and obviously Sports Sambo not as competitive as Judo.
I guess time lifes, but in 2010 or something, it was being reported like people were dropping out of competition just to avoid Fedor, and it sounded like bush league, I mean can you imagine that happening else where? Though can you blame them?
And you'd see guys like Krill, baby Fedor, SIX freaking times world champion in combat Sambo, SIX times, but he's rather underwhelming if you watch him fight. I mean Alex is like multi-combat sambo champion as well, and his grappling has always been pretty medicore I think.
Then Khabib came around with all these Dagestan guys where it's not just one guy like Fedor, but bunch of guys with Combat Sambo background who seems to be excelling in MMA.
I reckon that going forward we'd see more Sambo based fighters at the top of MMA, more than likely, perhaps more from Dagestan area or not necessarily ethnic Slavic fighters, but here's the list of top 10 greatest Sambo fighters of all time in MMA so far.
Once again, the criteria is not only how well you've done in MMA but also in your respective sport.
1. Fedor - MMA Goat, Sambo Hall of Fame, better record at age 32 than Khabib by a mile
2. Khabib
3. Minakov - Super talented, Got robbed hard by ref and lost his 0, think he fucked himself over by all the inactivity...
4. Oleg Taktarov
5. Arlovski
6. Oleynik
7. Nemkov
8. Ivanov
9. Alex
10. Vasilevsky
Honorable Mention: Islam Makhachev, Amosov(This guy might be the future), Ali Bagautinov, Ramazan Emeev, Magomed Ankalaev, Sultan Aliev, Valentin Moldavsky
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel that four main wrestling bases are Sambo, Judo, Wrestling and BJJ in MMA so far.
Judo Top 10(

Wrestling Top 60(

BJJ Top 30(

This list is hardest I think, probably leaving a lot out.
