Top 10 Grapplers of All time in MMA History

I don't think he does on that list.

While Souza was able to win a Strikeforce title, a UFC title has eluded him for his entire tenure with the promotion...

Mir has won the UFC Heavyweight Title, something that some would say is the pinnacle of the sport, and has done it twice...

but for this one, instead of comparing successes in different martial arts, just focusing more on how they were able to apply grappling to the greatest success in MMA.

If we are focusing on success in MMA, using your grappling to win a UFC Heavyweight Title, is a greater success than winning a Strikeforce Middleweight Title, at least for me.

Souza couldn't get past Whitaker and Romero. Mir beat Tim.

GSP is an amazing grappler, but here is how my top 5 would look:

1. Khabib
2. Maia
3. GSP
4. Aoki
5. Sakuraba

This is all subjective
Your list is significantly more realistic than the thread starter's list. Josh Barnett is certainly up there too. That big fella can grapple with the best of them.

I personally believe winning a title using your grappling over, should hold more weight than losing and not being able to contend for a title, regardless of the opposition.

If we were talking about overall, I wouldn’t put Mir over Souza (the guy lost a grappling match to Roy Nelson), but if we are basing it on success in MMA, Mir used his grappling to be more successful.

If the criteria is based success in MMA, I would even have to put Barnett over Souza, because he has won a UFC Heavyweight title as well...

GSP best grappler? <Lmaoo><Lmaoo>

Who exactly has he even submitted? Lay and pray wrestling isn’t what it means to be a good grappler in my view

Oliviera is atleast top 5. The guy has the most submissions in UFC history, that’s worth something

Matt Hughes, Bisping, Trigg

Pretty good list. I wish Aoki fought in the UFC we would know more about how his grappling translate against the very top lws.

If one doesnt specify the related Scorin´System & Fight Config., it´s pretty much an empty exercise...

Under UFC´s, someone like No Rush is one of the obvious GOATs, but under Pride´s or Rings´, he´s rather limited, grapplin´-wise.

Yeah yeah, he's rather limited

ah dear lil Disciple, as usual, dat readin´comprehension, tho... be it in English, or in... French...

I read what you write very well even though its written with about 4 slangs per sentences by an 11 years old teenager.

Inform me of the scoring system that would not make GSP a great grappler please. GSP has among the most guard passes and sub attempts in the ufc. Oh sorry I forgot that being asian makes a good chunk of your scoring system.

Well, cheeky lil Disciple, was already answered in my original statement... See, ´keep tellin´you that you cant read, in English or... French...

Tell us, tho... When Pride´s American office scouted No Rush & offered him to Pride Japan, what was their reply?

Jones above Maia?! No friggin way. Or Nog? No Mir? Fedor behind Jones?! These guys are monsters. If the question is about grappling skill, then they’re all easily ahead of Jones.
Yet Jon has never been out grappled or wrestled by anyone he’s fought. Same can’t be said for Mir (dominated by Brock, and destroyed in the clinch by carwin), or fedor (subbed by werdum, GNP’d by Bigfoot), Or Nog, (subbed my mir)
