I've never been much interested in him. So just now I read this article on Sherdog with Dana White discussing the 155 situation. Statement White: "Tony Ferguson has been around for a long time and has earned his dues, Khabib has earned his dues, and the list goes on and on"

So I'm wondering and check Tony in the fight finder. And guess what. This guy has been in the UFC since 2011. 14 fights in the UFC. Only one loss. Undefeated since 2012.

Wtf has happened here? They give someone from the 145lbs division, who has never fought at 155, the title shot over someone who has been there a lot of years and fights longer and is undefeated for 5 years?

And Eddie Alvarez got the title shot before that, having been on a fricking 3 fight win streak? How the fuck does that qualify you for a title shot?

And now the UFC has two worthy challengers, who each have already proven themself more than worthy, fight for an interim title? How disrespectful to these fighters and their accomplishments can you be?

But wait, the ultimate screwover happens here: this will add a substantial delay on a possible defense by McGregor. The usual training camp will last 2-3 months. So we're looking at that kind of timeframe until the interim title fight, plus the same until the actual title fight. 4-6 months total, plus the time it takes the fights to actually be signed.

Did anyone say injuries / medical suspensions? Could take until fall until McG actually has to defend.

This whole thing is an absolute complete farce.

Yep UFC LW Division is a complete joke...

HarpoPotomus & McNeverDefend running a 2 man Clown-show.

Welcome to the UFC in 2017-18. What other promotion would have a contender on a 5 fight winning streak, nevermind 10, without considering them for a title shot?

UFC is not meritocratic like true A-level sports football(soccer), formula 1, tennis etc. Huge fan of Ferguson but he is a former college wrestler who got into MMA to make a living . In elite sports this would literally never happen.

Yup. It's fucked

Ufc gone the boxing route, if they keep this shit up they’ll have hardly any fans left in a few years.

I agree... but you answered it yourself.

If you didn't realize Tony deserved it so much, then why shouldn't Conor have gotten the title shot since the mainstream people knew who he was?

UFC is in the money making businesses. Not the treat fighters fairly, or have honorable matches made, or have a credible sport or ranking systems business.

im actually curious now on whether or not conor is going to get stripped.
cuz if he gets stripped....that will be two belts in a row and he will become a (even bigger) laughing stock.

its almost like he HAS to defend.

after seeing khabibs handywork against boza, I have to see vs conor.

even little mendez got conor to the ground at will.

conor is now painted into a corner to where he can no longer be protected....., and if he walks away...that will be confirmation.

Any reason you didn't mention Conor's streak?

15 straight wins

- Max Holloway
- Dustin Poirier (KO)
- Chad Mendes (KO)
- Jose Aldo (5 seconds KO)

Tony Ferguson put together a streak that's great but happens all the time.

Conor put together the greatest pre-title reign streak in history. It was like Mike Tyson coming up in the early 1980s.

Not to defend the UFC because what they’re doing is atrocious, but LW has arguably been the deepest division for almost a decade. Contenders have been knocking each other off left and right before a proper title shot that they deserved. Before this debacle you had Frankie Edgar, BJ Penn, and Bendo in a carousel of rematches holding the division hostage while others on credible winning streaks had to fight each other.

But yes, Conor had absolutely no business getting that title shot but unfortunately this is mma in 2018. Meritocracy takes a back seat to “money fights.”

Nope.

Not really a fan of Cucuy, but TO ME, in today's scenario, he is the real LW champion.
He should accept a fight with Khabib ONLY if the winner is declared the UNDISPUTED champion.
Otherwise, it's all a fucking joke.
