Not to take anything away from Poirier but his striking is pretty basic. He mostly throws hooks. And being predictable with a guy as awkward as Khabib is not a good thing.
Ferguson's striking repertoire is very vast. He excels with his jabs, kicks and of course his elbows. He's unpredictable and not afraid to try things on the spot.
His pressure and cardio are endless. His takedown defence isn't the best but to counter that he is very awkward and versatile.
He doesn't need to fear the takedown since he has an amazing ground game and is very good from his back.
I think the combination of Cardio, pressure and versatility will give Khabib a lot of problems. Given his large arsenal of strikes and the fact he's not afraid of getting taken down will play a huge role imo.
Khabib is the favorite and rightfully so, but I think Ferguson is without a doubt the guy to give Khabib the most trouble and the most likely to beat him.
