Sure it is. Put yourself in the shoes of the UFC.I mean unless Ferguson been force feeding Oliveira it's not on tony
Fighters are dropping off cards left and right because of covid, including both the main and co main of this event. Ferguson calls for a short notice fight on this card. Olivera steps up. Their fight is now the most anticipated fight on the card and they put a bunch of marketing behind it. The card is now saved!
All of a sudden Tony decides now is the time to play hardball. On a short notice fight that he called for, before they even weigh in, he is now telling them he won’t fight unless Olivera makes weight. After all that effort to set this up. After all the money put behind the marketing, he decides he is not only going to play hardball on weight but also announce he is going to do it while they are trying to hype the fight.
I’m sure the UFC is pulling their hair out. I would say this is not very smart but Tony is supercrazytown and none of what he does makes any sense at all. If he thinks Olivera is going to come in big on purpose to gain an advantage, why not wait until the weigh in to see how he looks? It’s a last minute fight and he might be depleted from the cut. Why announce you are drawing a hard line while they are trying to hype the fight?
People are already iffy on this card because they don’t know who is going to actually fight. Ferguson is now making it even more uncertain and that’s definitely on him.
