Tony Ferguson has a 76.5 inch reach

Yes,Sylvia.

Pride's collapse and some of the UFC fighters who came over not doing as well as expected...people thought maybe Fedor wasnt going to flunk the test also. Some were wishing for it...
Wasn't on message boards then. Just mainly buddies at work. Nobody I knew cared for that fight. So I guess it was the hot thing. But I can tell you're big on Fedor and ALL of his competition. But Tim Sylvia did not seem like the test you make it out to be. 4 years people were calling for it? That seems a bit odd with all the other HW's at the time. But if you say so.

Well in 2004 Tim said "bring on Fedor!" after he beat Gan Mcgee, and Joe Rogan backed him up. Ever since then yknow the fight was in discussion. Even if people thought Fedor would win, everyone wanted to see the pride and ufc guys who never fought,to lock up.

Well in all fairness I hate to reference Brett Rogers again but I thought that was a squash match, and turned out to be a bit of a scrap. So maybe my hindsight has something to do with my viewpoint.

Remember when people were saying shit like jon jones is only good because of his ridiculous reach?
tony’s reach is ridiculous for a lightweight. Its actually closer to a MW or LHW. Khamzat has a 75 inch each. Is this real, are tony’s arms that long?

is tony a reach bully?

Jones has the reach with his arms and legs and knows how to use it. Feguson doesn't. Feguson doesn't have the boxing or the kicks.

So using your limbs is a skill, who’d a thought

Not just using your limbs, but knowing how to fight at distance where you can take advantage of your reach advantage is a skill.

What if you dominated somebody with identical reach, height, frame, weight, lifts the same n cut from the same amount of weight you did…. Then you were a skill bully… what a cowardly thing to be… go pick on somebody your own size ELO

A shit load of people were claiming Fedor would be exposed etc.

I also think Tim gets wayyyy too much flack. Dana really never liked him but he's one of the best hws the UFC had.
The Tim Sylvia that mangled Ricco Rodriguez would run train on a good portion of the hw div. today.

His limbs are pretty long. He has a slim torso but good shoulder width and is basically all arms and legs after that. It's porbbaly why his elbows are so good too. Longer arms will give you more range on elbows too

I got a 72 in reach and could cut to FLW, it's not the only thing that matters.

I think the nog fight proves, had he been in pride he could have done better than people expected.

Tony himself claimed that he's pretty damn big LW, and bragged about weighing 190+ not that far away from fight, IIRC.

So, nothing new.

Thats not the same as him "having no business" being in there

He's closer to the truth. Sylvia was already past his prime, fat and slowed down a lot. And even his prime version wasn't a very good fighter, he had a good run in the worst HW era of the UFC.

You know who was actually the most vocal about that? Fedor fans. Untill their man had a chance to fight him so they hyped him and that win up like crazy.

His test came in Strikeforce. How well did he do there again?

He wasnt fat in his fight with Fedor. I dont hype anyone up that doesnt deserve it. His last fight befoe that was a good fight with Nog. I thought Fedor would win,but it was a good fight to put on. People wanted to see what would happen.
