Tony Ferguson Currently the Lowest Ranked Lightweight in the UFC

Pettis had no takedown ability though. His ground skills were situational when his weak wrestling got exposed. Fantastic off his back no doubt.

Gaethje is a god awful matchup for Pettis and Poirier isn't a much better one.
If today's scoring was used back then Pettis would be announced the winner in his fights with Guida and Alvarez. You can't just lay on guys anymore.

If you stood on the outside and went tit for tat with Pettis he was super dangerous. That ain't Gaethje though.
Agreed. Both Dustin (who already beat Pettis) and Gaethje would get close and beat him up.
Also, been a while since I watched it but didn't Barboza win at range vs Pettis?

Tony is the type of guy that is the lowest ranked fighter to headline a UFC event.

Weight lifting = / = strength in a fight, and 405 for 3 really isn't all that impressive to start with.

The one constant in Tony's career was him getting overpowered in grappling exchanges, like every time.

Im not even exactly sure how much weight is on the bar(someone just said in the comments that its 405) but its impressive for a guy who makes weight for 155 and who isnt a dedicated weight lifter. And he isnt getting overpowered in grappling exchanges. He just gives up positions because hes too comfortable off his back.

He's #75 and you have Chris Duncan at 76, Maheshate 78, Motta 79, Levy 83, Charlie Campbel 86, Garcia 89, Peek 91, Ashmuz 94, Holobaugh 97, Benitez 105, Oki 106, Hubbard 107, Medeiros 106, Al Selwady 113, Nolan 114, Vannata 116, Morales 119, Figlak 125, Roosevelt Roberts 131, Anshul Jubli 136, Quinones 147, Breeden 150, Yahya 162, Melziqael Costa 178, Martinez 191, Gonzalez 217, Flowers 220, Gonzalez 224, Cuamba 237, Marotte 238, Cunningham 243, Rohskopf 271

These rankings don't make any sense, they have Khabib at #91. The screenshot in the OP is just probably some user made list.

He's only on a 7 fight losing streak, why would he be?

Fixed.

Seriously though, if he wont retire, they need to cut him. He's older than his dad, and he lost more in a row than the averge fighter gets on their contract.

Why the hell has he not been giving a winnable fight? Chiesa is not a walk in the park, despite his recent record. Total mismanagement of his career

It's utterly laughable how many people actually thought the gangly Ferguson could beat Khabib.

All Tony had was a certain amount of toughness, mentally, plus pace and pressure.
However, Tony was also technically-lacking, and somewhat fragile, physically.

The truth is, Khabib has always been a 1000x tougher man than Tony (Khabib has never been cut, dropped, or wobbled — while Tony got cut, dropped, and wobbled in almost every fight) ... not to mention Khabib put out even more pace + pressure than Tony ... and was also stronger + 1000x more technically-sound.

Just compare how Khabib handled Justin Gaethje's best punches, like they were nothing, while those same punches decimated Tony, having him do "the chicken dance" several times, and Tony ultimately turned and quit to a Gaethje jab.

There was literally NO CHANCE for Tony Ferguson to have beat Khabib, which is especially illuminated in retrospect.
The first time they were scheduled to fight I would have bet on Tony.
no way to know by looking at post prime careers.

There is a way to know, actually. Everything I said is true.

How "you" would have bet is irrelevant to the transparency here.

Beating Islam? No. But he did beat Oliveira which both Poirier and Gaethje failed at. Prime Pettis was a better grappler than either of them.
Ricardo Lamas also subbed Oliveira that year and did it at 155, that doesn't mean he's better than Poirier and Gaethje.
You do know Poirier actually beat Pettis at 155 and Pettis couldn't do shit to him on the ground, Poirier made him quit on the ground.
Holloway also destroyed Pettis in their title fight, someone Poirer has history with.

Lamas was an elite grappler and would have beaten Poirier had they fought at 145. The disrespect is crazy.

That was a post prime version of Pettis.

Holloway also destroyed Pettis in their title fight, someone Poirer has history with.
Post prime and terrible weight cut. Though Max would be a tough fight even at 155.

He's clearly not the worst guy in the division. He is just at the bottom of that list because of so many loses. Nobody else has been given that many extra chances guys who are significantly worse get cut all the time for 2 and 3 fight losings streaks and sometimes less.

why Chiesa? why not feed him a can like Mickey Gall. imo at least give the guy a chance. Chiesa been looking bad too but he will smother Tony.
