If you watch/listen to a lot of interviews, you'll notice how unusually common it is to hear fighters talk about how deathly ill they were the week of the fight, how they injured themselves the week of the fight, how they got the flu the week of the fight, how they tore a ligament while greeting someone... here we have these high level athletes who you would think are rock solid and in phenomenal shape, and yet all of them are sick more often than the common person.

I understand the injuries they face from training all the time, but how can so many fighters be so fragile in the 2 week period before their fight?

I wonder to what extent it's because they are starving themselves and cutting weight. We hear about the stories of fighters passing out in the bathtub during weight cut, but what about all the other illnesses during fight week? To what extent are these occurrences caused by depriving the body of fluids and nutrition to drop those 20-30 pounds?

Tony supposedly had a freak accident, but how healthy was he when he claims to be around 200 pounds and he's in the process of making 155?

How many times could we have seen Tony/Khabib if they just agreed to fight at 185?
