To the adults in the room: Things you LIKE about Donald Trump

He is an egotistical wannabe mafia don. He also loves Russian Women, whether for rent or for sale. Allegedly...

I think his bad taste is directly related to a lot of the other bad aspects of his character

If this is in reference to my OP, I never said he had "bad" taste, as I think that's at best an illusory and subjective value judgement and at worst a classist non sequitur. I think "bad taste" is kind of contradictory since the validity of the taste is justified by the very fact that the person likes it.

If you were to posit a good faith definition of "good" taste, I think Trump would pass, as the media American thinks McDonalds and KFC are delicious, wear cheap suits, and think gold shit makes you look powerful.

(really, he has a dictator's taste in everything).

lol you're going to need to expand on this, because i have no idea what that means.

Fidel Castro wore drab military uniforms his entire career, lived in a fairly modest home, and saved his one indulgence for diving a classic Cadillac.

Muammar Gaddafi on the other hand dressed like this:

I'm not sure I could pin down a "dictator" taste.

  • Easily #1 is his tough position and willingness to confront China on their gross IP abuse, and certain trade imbalances (such as car tariffs)
  • Finishing off ISIS-- for the most part
  • Generally, his judicial appointments
  • The reduction of the corporate tax rate to 21% to entice headquartering back to American shores, and his willingness to shrink government. He's also consciously chosen to leave many posts in government unfilled because he believes, simply, that we can do more with less, and I agree (unfortunately he married these ideas to a tax plan and first budget that render them completely meaningless because we're spending bigger than liberal governments, anyway)
  • Betsy DeVos's commitment to expanding Charter School options
  • The fact that he is willing to openly chastise the UN for their incessant and hypocritical anti-Israeli grandstanding
  • The fact that he is shaming NATO nations that don't meet their spending obligations, and seeking to catalyze change, there
  • His support for American sovereignty and the notion that Americans have a right to dictate who enters their country (the same as everyone else); his pushback against "sanctuary laws"
  • Granting the Keystone Pipeline access
  • His proportional response to Cuban hostility toward our diplomats with that sonic device
  • His toughness on gangs (this is a big deal for Californians)

I said he had bad taste, which is what you were praising about him. I could not possibly disagree with the rest of this more than I do. I'll get into it and the dictator taste stuff later.

At first Charter Schools were a disaster, but they have since shown quite a bit of promise. I'm not sure what else you find objectionable about that.

His quick wit

Not much on follow-through, apparently.

"Fuckable" is a pretty low bar.

You don't think Michelle Obama meets that? It's not like the standard is super model or 10/10.

For sure.

With her I'd need to be so drunk it'd take some promise of anal to maybe get me hard. So it's like hurdling the low bar but doing enough damage to your balls in the process that the cost/benefit analysis leaves it questionable. Give or take.

Sorbet is a rich persons cuisine??

Always pegged you as the type of socialist who doesn't mind forking over the cash for a high-end meal -- never met a corporate lawyer who wasn't a pretentious foodie; especially with wine.

I like that me and the Donald both use Spin Milled Vokey Wedges.

I do like that your president doesn't post massive amount of selfies and dresses like a low rent Maharaja on international trips.

You have a poets soul Cubo.<Huh2>

Lol

That he cheats on his wives and does crooked business deals and gets away it, people that know him don't care about it.

I wish i could get away with that shit.

I just super duper hate Betsy DeVos and make a face irl identical to that emoji whenever her name is mentioned regardless of the context

Also, she reminds me strongly of Mom from Futurama

I've said this before and I'll say it again - he comes up with the best nicknames for political rivals.

Idk, I couldn't think of anything else other than caviar.

I was visualizing creme brule, but couldn't think of the word (I just Googled "rich people pudding" and found it), so I went with sorbet. Which sounds like a rich person thing because of its French name.

Well, I'm not a corporate lawyer anymore.

And I pay a premium on food just to buy local and patronize small restaurants, but I'm definitely not a foodie. And I would have no problem at all eating fast food, which I generally think is delicious, if it were not for the shit wages they pay their workers and their effect in of pushing out local places.

I've paid hefty amounts for meals for professional and social events at "nice" restaurants, and I don't know that I've ever had anything that I would prefer over a $12 meal at a Mexican restaurant.
