Aldo by whatever he wants, and when he wants. I also think if they fought at 145, Barao would beat Tj as well. That weight cut was brutal for Barao. He is basically the same size as Aldo.

I respectfully disagree - though the weight cut didn't do Barao any favors, I don't think the outcome of a fight with TJ would be much different at FW. TJ is just a bad match-up for Barao.

This, outside of some extremely game and very well rounded fighters like Penn, Couture, Edgar, etc., the weight difference is just too much.

I think TJ is game and pretty well rounded, but not enough to jump weight classes.

You have to be a really special fighter to go up in weight and beat the top guy at that weight. TJ is good and could probably get some wins at 145 against lower ranked guys, but not against Aldo. Size, length, reach, it all changes a fight. McGregor/Diaz is a good example lol.

Barao and Aldo certainly have similarities with their striking but the big difference between the two is fight IQ. Aldo uses faints and establishes range and center line better with his jab. And because TJ's stand up is centered on shifting his stance to create angles he's more vulnerable to leg kicks than most fighters. I think Aldo would beat him by UD.

TJ's style being used successfully gives a false reassurance that it is unstoppable against other styles. Jose Aldo has had major success in stand up for a reason, and being the bigger man it's more than enough to frustrate TJ and minimize his movement, even slow him down substantially.
