TJ Dillashaw JACKED

This dude basically rested for 2 years, healed up and is getting a no.1 contender fight (if not an actual titleshot). Goes to show the is no such thing as punishment for PED-users.

Other than not having an income?

I'd say that was a pretty big punishment. Also didn't he get fined as well?

You go take 2 years off work without pay and get back to me as to how great it was.

It's not difficult to be sub 150lbs and look muscular with lower body fat

It's like a being a fat chick with big boobs

he did his time and im glad to see him back. the guy comes to fight and isn't a wet blanket.

but i do think his first fight back needs to be Cody... he cheated that man out of alot of money and possibly a superfight with cejudo.
Are you under the impression that Cody was clean? The guy essentially admitted to being dirty.

He runs a gym, makes a good amount through sponsorships. Something he afforded through high-profile wins and standing as the champion (who knows if he was cheating at the time already but was able to avoid the system, I'm not going to make that claim cause it'd be naive). Also got fined a percentage of the money he made in the Cejudo fight (which he willingly cheated in) iirc. Dude took EPO, its not a small thing and he is going to get rewarded with a title-eliminator and a solid 2 year rest. For the damage done and the careers, legacies he did or could've have impacted, he should've been suspended for 4 years. Nick Diaz was suspended for five years for weed. And frankly should have atleast 2 fights before fighting for the title. If champions cheat in championship fights get 2 years, I really dont see how this is gonna help keep the sport clean. If 2 years is the max. punishment, I wonder how this is will dissuade other fighters from making that same mistake. I mean its low risk if you think about it. I like TJ and I like his fighting style, but he got off easy imo. Maybe I'm wrong though, its a debatable topic for sure and I'm not biased enough to say I have all the answers on this one. Just wish the sport stays clean.

Nicks suspension got vastly reduced because he sued and won.

I'm not endorsing PED abuse but we have no idea what TJ's actual finances are. Owning a gym this year was basically a financial death sentence due to COVID.

I have an acquaintance that owns a gym here and even in good times its a very very tough business to own. I owned one for almost two years in conjunction with a yoga studio my ex-wife ran and its was very difficult to be profitable.

I see your point and you're obv. correct. Hell I'll even add that TJ's sponsorships were probably pulled to a good amount also. But many champs have made profitable investments in real estate and business. While I dont know TJ's situation financially, if social media is any indication, he is taken care of. But thats not even the point. He willingly took one of the worst substances (EPO) in the context of cheating. He admitted to it and didn't try to play this whole "supplement was tainted"-thing. Its absolutely his responsibility and his fuck-up and frankly he should've been suspended a lot longer and face a lot more resistance when it comes to titleshots. It sucks cause his decision not only impacts the careers and legacies of his opponents, but also of his students, his gym and obv. his family. But if we really want to clean this sport up, we have to remove every possible incentive for PED-use. If someone out there thinks "you know, I'll survive two years, let me try to get away with it" we have an issue. I like TJ, like I said, but I wont have that cloud my respect of every clean fighter out there going by the rules and playing it fair.

Fair enough.

2 years unfortunately aint shit in the big picture. A championship fighter fighting for another championship taking EPO should be out for at the very least 4 years and under no cicumstances be booked in an immediate titlefight (We saw how things played out with Jones). Willingly cheating like that in attempts to be a double champ is a dirty thing and should be punished a lot more severely. How are 2 years going to dissuade anyone for risking PED-use? Esp. considering Nick Diat was suspended for five years and fined six figures? TJ's shitty decision either has or could have destroyed legacies, careers, opponents health and many more things. Chilling at home while championship sponsorships and business (paid off by championship pays) take care of you financially and you preparing for another titlefight should be an absolute no-go in MMA in 2020. Yet here we are acting like nothing happened. And thats coming from someone who was genuinely happy to see TJ reclaim his title and leave MSG a champ.

Just to reaffirm your first point. Ortega had the shit kicked out of him by Max, which I watched live, then comes back almost 2 years later after cleaning up his bullshit yes-men camp and re-tools the whole time, has an impressive performance and is practically guaranteed to be fighting for the title next.

To Aldo's point. TJ made a mistake. He got complacent and someone probably had real evidence that he was taking EPO. Nobody fucking tests for that cause it's too expensive. That's the only mistake he made.

If new fighters aren't watching how this works and aren't learning how to play the system they will just end up as someone else's mark.

It's a scumbag sport. Like every single other sport.

Damn bro you married a yogi AND went into business with her? Champ shit only.
