I have managed to see some bjj tapes and stuff but I find them boring very quickly and I almost fall asleep. I love jiu jitsu so I don't know why it bores me. When I do finally watch all the tape I don't tape that much away from it, I feel like im lucky just to have used one technique or at least recognised other people using that technique.

I was wondering if anyone here could give some tips on how to incorporate these techniques into your game and remember all the different limb positioning which is sometimes hard to put into practice when you finally get to try them out in the gym.

It shouldnt require any work on your part...
just try and sit back and appreciate the details...
how smooth someone is, nice sweeps, little tricks...
the devil is in the details.

This is how I do it. I watch it all the way thru by myself, then I con my wife into being my grappling dummy and watch it again, doing all the moves.

Find one particular move and watch a few times and work on that in class. Im not a big fan of vid learning, but it is helpful when you are working something and want to get a different perspective on the technique or setup.

hahahahhaha

I know it is funny, but it is as true as can be. She doesn't mind most of the time, but sometimes I am looking at the TV and not remembering that it's her I'm rolling with and I get a little rough accidentally. Then she makes noises and whines and I am like, oh shit, my bad baby, got carried away. She is a champ tho. Not only is she my grappling dummy, but I was helping my 6 yr old on his outside singles and guess who he was doing them on.....MOMMY!!!!

the answer was right in front of your nose the whole time. Just tape your eyes open.

Don't try to learn everything on the tape. Just learn what is good for your game or something you think that you can easily make yours.
