Tipping complaint

This might be a great debate.. I think we never had tipping thread in Sherdog.

BTW... why would you care she gave you a sour look? That looks like her problem.. not yours.

What an utterly retarded take. You honestly think that anarchists or libertarians are into enforcing rules onto people for what constitutes acceptable tips? Someone really needs to do a bit more reading on the topic...

Seems like you just wanted to go on a rant and were unsuccessfully attempting to shoehorn it into an unrelated topic.
I'm pretty much libertarian and fuck rules over acceptable tips.

$3 is fine on that tab. I live in an area where there is a rampant problem with a certain race of people that dine and dash or pay but leave no tip. Many places that have them as customers are automatically putting on a 20% tip on the bill. Pisses off some of the servers I know because they often get bigger tips than 20% from some people. Some places are even taking a credit card before the food is served and will not accept cash at all.

She serves my food so I don't want her to mess with it. I try to follow social rules and norms to fit in. Treating people the way I want to be treated is a good policy, within reason.

You've been here for 12 years and have almost 44k posts so you're bound to see some redundancy.

is there a chance you misinterpreted her look, or that she gave you the look for another reason?

2$ on a 10$ bill is not crappy, its plenty.
Yes, it's totally possible. Maybe she'd just found out that she had to plunge the toilet or something and it had nothing to do with me.

This is an outdated cope/sentiment and the people that are are not tipping are going to be richer than you because they are not spending that 30 dollars every time you are actually the broker person and 30 dollars poorer.
You are incentivising a toxic tipping culture to flex and virtue signal.
Who am I flexing to. I like knowing im giving my server extra money that goes directly to them. That's a flex then so be it.

You tight cunt!

I rarely eat out but if I do I tip well, and it's not because I'm wealthy, I'm not, just sharing the love.
This is the logic people use to justify tipping and it can be used in everything. Do you tip the cashier at the gas station? The cop who pulled you over but was nice about it? The nurse who gives you an extra packet of apple sauce? The post office employee? What about a homeless guy who smiles at you? Arguably the person who needs an extra dollar the most.

Why not just tip every single person you come in contact with since you're spreading the love?

Actually, I have an idea. If you guys venmo me a tip, I'll be extra nice to you when responding to you.

Don't get in my shit about it, I do what I can for anyone when I can, I don't give a fuck what you think about it

Actually don't understand percentage based tipping either. Why do you have to tip more if you pay more? Is it because they have to carry more plates? Why does a customer have to pay more if he orders a $20 plate vs a $10 plate? Is the $20 plate heavier?

I'm just trying to understand your logic. If you're truly doing what you can for anyone then it's commendable. I just have my doubts about people's compassion being truly indiscriminate or if it's just reserved for pretty waitresses serving their food.

Can do you tip me?

Why would I tip you? Get a fucking job

Spreading love isn't just about money, or is that not something you can comprehend? Some people are obsessed with it I guess

You're the one who said you're sharing love on a tipping thread.

Amazing workplace logic. Waiters working for restaurants for peanut but the diners are paying their wages. Restaurant managers meanwhile are grinning from ear to ear

However you also need to add the threat/extortion element. If he doesn't venmo you you'll make fun of his posting style and troll his threads, for example.

I swear that she kinda gave me a sour look on my way out after an otherwise pleasant interaction. How much am I supposed to tip you young lady? $5 which is 50% of the meal? Am I not supposed to sit down for a meal unless I order a minimum amount? I like chicken soup. I find a bowl of it quite satisfying. All the other servers know that I order the $10 chicken soup and I always tip $3. Sometimes I am feeling like a wild man and I order two of them. In those cases, I usually tip $4.

So, what you're really saying is that the young woman never actually complained about the tip and you cooked up a whole elaborate drama in your head about a "look" you think she kinda gave you?

Yeah, well, when you put it that way it sounds kinda ridiculous.
