Signing a 5 fight deal with the UFC does not guarantee you 5 fights. It just means that if the UFC decides to give you 1-5 fights, your pay for those 1-5 fights is fixed by contract. It also means you can't fight for someone else unless the UFC lets you go.

Good post if the fighter is actually famous and can draw money for promoters.

But....I doubt Tim Means will have other MMA promotions beating on his door pulling up the Brinks truck with a ton of money. For a guy like Means, the UFC will be his best road to make money.

as previously mentioned, he has no name value to draw an offer from bellator or other competitors

They signed Anderson to 10 fights cause they didn't want him walking. Ufc goal before they get rid of you is to make sure you have no real game changer star power left if you go to another promotion
