The difference is that Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln, and Churchill used violence against governments and their agents. Mandella used violence against CIVILIANS, and only targeted WHITE people.

Their slogan was not destroy the government, it was kill the WHITES, and they targeted FARMERS. They car bombed a street at the height of traffic during rush hour. Terrorism, end of story.

The methods in which the ANC used on the blacks was for worse. Look up necklacing. They would also kidnap and torture black so they would confess and point the finger to other blacks that where on the side of the whites. They also murdered any other blacks that wanted their own party. The killed whites yes. You said he only targeted whites and that is untrue.

I am not arguing that. My point is the method in which they used. One fought in military battle. The other killed women and children and murdered thousands of his own for both power and fear tactics.

Washington was respected by his enemies, who knew him and his tactics quite well. A great deal of the respect for Mandela is accompanied by ignorance of the man and his tactics.

Mandela does deserve respect as a symbol of resistance to racial injustice. He also deserves a good deal more criticism than he receives.
