I'm 41 and looking into a few different gyms to learn BJJ, kickboxing type fighting. Anyone have any experience with TSMMA as far as the classes, pricing and if it's my best option to start my training at my age there or is it better to go elsewhere.

what are the other options? Tiger definitely wouldn't be my first choice if I could help it

If you're in North Jersey, there are quite a few options that I, and many others here, would choose over a TSMMA chain location. The closer you are to NYC, the more your options expand.

Giving a general area ("Am in Morristown/Paterson/Newton etc") would help people point you in the right direction.

TSMMA is mad expensive. Well over $200 a month. They've produced some very successful MMA fighters, but I'd go along with what thapa wrote.

Check out Jason Scully's place in Red Bank.

Haha the karate school switched because u can't charge $150-200 a month for karate.

I highly recommend Renzo Gracie Holmdel:
http://www.rgaholmdel.com/

Renzo periodically teaches there. Rolles Gracie is the head instructor, and they have couple of very good black belts teaching there also (Josh Madama, Matt Serra BB, Joe Ahlert and Steve Dollinger, Renzo BB's).

Paul Fahey is a great instructor, but Fairfield is about an hour away from Middletown.

Don't be intimidated by the real mma schools, they need casual members like you in order to stay afloat.
