Agreed! Comic Ghost is actually quite cool

Yep. I think some people can't see certain characters as "worthy" of being on screen so they write them off which is a shame as some lesser characters are actually more interesting, especially when given to good writers.

Ant Man was done very well IMO and most people that I know loved the first movie, liked Paul Rudd as the main character, and enjoyed the story line which fleshed out the familiar "redemption" theme of a bungling ex-con who is trying to get on track as a father and stop being a failure. How many thought a Scott Lang Ant Man movie was worth making?

Yeah I wouldn’t have thought so. I think it’s hit or miss but lately it’s been miss.

Harrison Ford Reportedly Confirmed to Play General Ross in THUNDERBOLTS and CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER

ford-thunderbolts.jpg

Slash Film can independently confirm that the news announced live on The Hot Mic With John Rocha and Jeff Sneider is in fact true. The role of Thaddeus Ross will be recast with — yep, you're reading this correctly — Harrison Ford.

There are major franchise castings, and then there are major franchise castings. Harrison Ford joining the MCU certainly qualifies as the latter, putting a nice feather in the cap of Kevin Feige as the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Blade Runner star can now add superheroes to his legendary résumé.

Obviously, a man of Ford's age won't be expected to do much in the way of genuine action (although, then again, he has completed filming on the next Indiana Jones sequel), but the source material has featured Thaddeus Ross playing a similar kind of role for the Thunderbolts antihero team as DC's Amanda Waller for the Suicide Squad.

While one could assume Ford would play a major role in the Thunderbolts movie, Sneider reports that he will make his debut as the character in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order.

Of course, one's mind boggles at the idea of Ford donning the sort of motion capture apparatus that Mark Ruffalo and now Tatiana Maslany have used to bring their respective Hulk characters to life. After all, Ross becomes the Red Hulk in the pages of Marvel Comics. However Ford's specific role plays out, and as much as William Hurt's presence will be sorely missed, we're fascinated to see how this plays out.

Thunderbolts will be directed by Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank, Paper Towns) and is scheduled to release in theaters on July 26, 2024.

According to Jeff Sneider from The Hot Mic podcast, the news of Ford's reported casting as Thunderbolt Ross was supposed to accompany Marvel's panel at D23 until Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy put a stop to it. Sneider goes on to explain that while Lucasfilm is a Disney subsidiary, like Marvel Studios, Kennedy preferred to focus on promotion for Indiana Jones 5. See what Sneider stated below:

"So what I initially heard is that this was a done deal for D23, that they actually wanted to announce him as a cast member in Thunderbolts at D23 but that they didn't because Kathleen Kennedy put her foot down and said, 'No, we're going to keep the focus on Indiana Jones 5 content, I don't want this to become Harrison Ford joining the MCU, we're going to keep the focus on Indy 5 right now."

<WhatIsThis>

I feel like Harrison would completely half ass this role. I can't imagine him having much patience or putting much effort into the CGIing of Red Hulking out.

Even wearing a Mo-Cap Suit requires a certain amount of physical effort. They'd have to use a stunt double for the Mo-Cap Red Hulk scenes, and just CGI Ford's face on to him.

Would rather have Old Man Steve in this role than a recasted General Ross.

That actually makes a lot more sense. Have OMS reluctantly called out of retirement after the Thunderbolts screw the pooch on their first mission. In order to lead them in the field, OMS starts Juicing with the Hulk Serum, which reacts with his own Super Soldier Serum to turn him into Red Hulk.

Comic accurate or not I can do without Red Hulk, I feel like marvel is watering down the product the more Hulk like people we get, it should feel more rare. I felt the same way about the super serum and the way they overused it made cap less special.

Rumor: Marvel Studios Searching for Actor to Play an "Evil Superman" with Ryan Gosling and Alexander Skarsgard Being Eyed for the Role

Ryan-Gosling-Is-Rumored-To-Play-A-Major-Villain-In-MCUs-Thunderbolts.jpg

If a new rumor is to be believed, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon add a very powerful new character to its ever-expanding roster.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman (via Patreon), Marvel Studios is currently searching for an actor between the age of 30-50 to play "a conflicted and powerful villain" in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, who he describes as being comparable to an "evil Superman."

Apparently, the studio is interested in either Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgård to fill the role.

There aren't too many Marvel Comics characters who fit this description, so there's a decent chance it'll either be Sentry or Hyperion.

If this proves to be accurate, it obviously indicates that the Thunderbolts will assemble to face this mysterious individual, and not to wage war on Wakanda as a previous rumor suggested.

Sentry aka Robert Reynolds was injected with a serum that gave him superpowers when he was a high-school teenager, but it was one designed to be immensely more powerful than the concoction that turned Steve Rogers into Captain America. After taking the serum, Reynolds was imbued with what's described as "the power of a million exploding suns," leaving a trail of destruction behind him wherever he goes.

Hyperion is essentially a blatant Superman rip-off. Like Clark Kent, Marvel's Mark Milton was also an invincible alien that crash-landed in the Midwest and was raised by blue collar parents. When it comes to Milton, however, there have been some storylines added government agents as antagonists, turning the character into one that straddled a morally gray line.

If you want the character extra gritty then go with Skarsgård. Always been a fan of his work. Wasn't he being looked at for Thor way back when?

Yeah, Skarsgard was in the running for Thor. This was back when he was still in True Blood.

Skarsgard is my No. 1 choice for my fantasy casting for Sentry.
