Media Throwback Friday: Mir rips Big Nog's arm off

Mir is the only fighter that I am aware of that has actually broken an opponents arm (as opposed to just hyperextending a joint) and he’s done it multiple times.

I remember watching UFC 48 Mir vs Tim sylvia and breaking he's arm. Tim tried to hide it and pretend it wasn't broken to keep fighting. Pre motorbike accident Mir was awesome. He was never the same when he returned. Still wish to this day that if the ref didn't stop if so quick that he could of taken Bork's leg home also to add to he's collection. <BlackPinkStab>

Mir has the top finishes and the highlight reel submissions. One of my all time favorites. He doesn't fuk around. When you go to the ground with him, he goes for the kill.

Tim wasn’t pretending. He didn’t know it was broken due to the adrenaline. He said he was in significant distress backstage after the adrenaline wore off.

After Mir had his leg broken in that motorcycle accident he wasn’t able to shoot for a takedown properly. It forced him to stand with guys he shouldn’t be standing with and get knocked out a bunch of times. It literally changed the course of his career. It’s too bad. He was one of my favourite fighters. Would have loved to see pre accident Mir vs prime Werdum.

This is why seeing Fedor stop Frank Mir's brain was amazing!

did you recover ok from that or have you had permanent injury in some form?
there was a really loud *crack* but it wasn't a major fracture i suppose...was back on the mat after a month...didn't go to the doctor or anything for a cast

about half a year later i would say it was 100%

Now that you mention it, askren mysteriously never fought any fighters of color in the UFC.
' of color '? every human/ race is 'of color' . thats 'of color' is just a bs narrative variant to push an agenda. unless you are clear/ invisible, you are of color. you mean brown or black people? jorge is brown.

masvidal has too much Spanish heritage to qualify.

I'm convinced that Frank went for the arm break as soon as he got it locked in and he's not waiting for the tap. He was rocked bad and want the fight to be over right away.

this shit was brutal, my dad bout fainted when he saw this lol. Especially when Nog looked at his flamingo'd arm

This was so satisfying after Nog's whining and excuses after their first fight

In a real fight, you don't hesitate and *not* go for a break. It's up to the other fighter to tap in time

Mir was a monster himself back in the days. 3rd best Heavyweight BJJ player ever, after Werdum and Big Nog?
Mir was ahead of his time, his BJJ style more closely resembles the present day BJJ players, mixing in leg attacks, always hunting for subs etc

Just picturing tim yelling "I'm in serious distress" backstage... lol

Nog looking at his arm after.

You hate to see it.
Yeah that was really hard to watch. Just not sure if mir broke it to fast for Nor to tap or if he just refused to tap. I mean he knew it would snap. Tough son of a B
