lol. You guys worry about the most ridiculous shit.
There are different strokes for different folks. How many different kinds of music are there? Idk, but I know what I like and what I don’t. You will never catch me listening to Country, or rap. So what do I do? Well I don’t go to any place that has that music. I don’t go on forums devoted to them and talk shit.
I’ve been to the opera (much better since a lot of venues now have screens with English subtitles). I’ve been to the symphony many times. I dig classical music. Especially the violins. I’ve seen more rock bands and concerts than anybody I’ve ever met in real life. Rock and Roll is my thing. That’s everything from the early 50s until today. Motown, Folk, Hard Rock, Pop, Disco, R&B. You name it. But it all only has one name to me.. Rock and Roll. My first concert was KISS in 1977. My second concert.. KC and the Sunshine Band. Polar opposites. I’m eclectic in my Rock and Roll. And it’s always been a big part of my life.
Sports.. There aren’t too many I haven’t played. I don’t shit on the ones I don’t watch. I have outgrown a cpl.
My favourite sport to participate in is Skydiving. I love doing anything fast and dangerous. And fishing.
My favourite sport to watch is CFL football. Essentially the same as the American game. But the rules make it a totally different game in many respects. I can’t even guess at how many players I’ve met. And EVERY single American trained player I’ve talked to readily says the Canadian game is much better. That includes guys like Warren Moon, and Doug Flutie. Not talking about pay, talent, crowd size, popularity, or any of that shit. Just the game itself. There’s no comparison. Because of the field size and number of players. A guy can be Pro Bowl NFL player. And wash out of the CFL game. Half the team is American. And most of those guys played in the NFL.
I love hockey, but I boycotted the NHL about 20 years ago, and haven’t really gone back. I watch a lot of International hockey, though. Just watched the IIHF World Junior Championships after Christmas.
Soccer.. Loved it all my life. But I only really watch Olympic, and World Cup, or qualifying games (CONCACAF).
Baseball.. Can’t watch it on tv. But there’s nothing better than sitting in the bleachers on a sunny day and watching live.
Basketball.. Stopped watching when Dr J retired.
Love Skiing, and Curling (Pretty much every winter sport), Motocross Racing, Horse Racing, Auto Racing of all kinds, Bowling, Track, Swimming, Diving. There isn’t much I won’t watch. And I’ve participated in a lot of them.
But I outgrew Pro Wrestling, Boxing, and Basketball. Never really got into Cricket, or Rugby. Don’t watch Darts, or Snooker, but I like playing them, especially pool.
But by and large it’s live and let live. You watch/play what you want. I’ll watch/play what I want. And again.. I don’t go on forums of sports I don’t watch, or like and talk shit to those people. There’s WAY too much of that on SD. A lot of people here don’t like the sport of mma. They don’t watch the sport. And despise Dana/The UFC. It’s fucking bizarre. But I guess that’s the difference between my generation and the ones that came after. And it’s getting worse every 10-15 years.
Like, Why even make this thread? What’s the fucking purpose? I’m 100% positve that Slap Fights did NOT exist when Dana made the statement in the title. And if you don’t realize the motivation behind most of what Dana has ever said. I don’t know what to tell you.
Soccer is the biggest sport in the world..Period. And yes, it’s very cheap to play. But that’s not an indictment on the sport. It’s more about world wide poverty, and access.
Do you have any idea how much it costs to play hockey for just one year now? I played throughout the time I was 5 until 13. Back then it was MUCH cheaper. Because all of our practices, and about 50% of our games were on outdoor rinks. Now everything is in arenas, and ice time is very expensive. That doesn’t even include the equipment. But 2-3 times per week (weather permitting) my buddies and I were still playing pick up shinny (no pads, or real goalies, no checking, or slapshots) into our 30s at the local outdoor rink.
As far as I know I’m the only person on here that has played, and watches Curling. And idgas what anybody thinks about it. It’s where I live and how I grew up. Every dinky little town in Canada practically has these two buildings in them. A Hockey Arena, and a Curling Rink.
