Thoughts on a possible UFC 285 fallout scenario

It wouldn't surprise me, Cormier is retired but if there was 1 guy he would come back for it would only be Jones. Those 2 losses still hurt him and he just can't shake it. All Jones has to say is 1 sarcastic comment and Cormier will be fuming again.

Its really an arch nemesis kind of thing right?

D.C VS Jones 3 at HW would be ALI -Frazier ISQUE ..IMO... Tyson- Lewis numbers.... No doubt in my mind...for all the marbles one LAST TIME
I am going to say this is overstating the case, but yeah, it would be a big deal in MMA.

Thinking it is not likely to happen though.

2%. That depends if UFC throws DC millions to take that loss.

I love this interesting take @Paolo Delutis I thought you were a French racist. Now I’m on your side

Im Canadian bro ..of Italian decent...my kids go to french school lol . ..ive just been noticing the few and loud french crew thats been going hard for Gane

The French are alright with me LOL

I’m really hoping DC would have to go and interview him, Then Jones just trash talks him the entire time while holding the belt.

Only then would i believe DC would fight again. But Jones wouldn’t do that.

Might as well just keep rematching Jones/DC until your guy wins. Maybe this fight would sell, but really its horrible.

Lol .... I mean its easily one of the most storied rivalries in MMA ...

What exactly makes it horrible

Its possible , more then you think ...these two around each other just have that competitive energy ... it would really only take one or two words from either and it would escalate

What a weird thread. I think some people are being sarcastic and some people are being serious which is even more confusing when all the posts are mixed together.

TS looks to be serious so I'll just address him: don't think it'd be that big man. I say this as a guy who used to be a DC fan. There are things that stretch the ability to absorb a silly sales pitch... even amongst MMA fans who are pretty notorious for that. It'd be a guy in his 40s not fighting, not training, who retired off a loss against a guy who also retired off a loss, to come back and fight a guy he lost to twice... no, it definitely wouldn't be the biggest fight / anything comparable to Ali-Frazier. The only way it really makes sense to label that as a HW classic is if HW was seriously striving to replace WFW as the worst division of all-time considering such a low moment could seriously be considered so highly.

And as a DC fan, no... stay retired and commentating please.

So i was watching the weigh in show today live ..

And throughout most of it , i kept thinking something was different about it .. mostly as i was waiting for Friggin Jones to weigh in...

They were doing there silly games and what not and then D.C gets up to spin this wheel thing they got and it hit me...

D.C looked like to me like hes lost some significant weight and looked alot closer to his fighting days and looked good compared to other post retirement shows hes done ..he looks like hes back to training

Do you guys think its a possibility , we get a one time only HW fight between Jones and D.C if Jones wins tomorrow night....

If i can get a poll done mods , with percentages ranging from 0 to 100% that would be amazing ...

I think this would be the biggest HW fight in UFC history...forget Jones vs Ngannou...

UFC 300- FINAL CONFLICT

I was thinking how much longer (2 years?) before Sanko's boobs are touching the table.

Really didn't care about DC's bod or whatever mixed drinks they were sampling.

Since no one has brought it up yet, just a reminder that Cormier is about to turn 44. He also has multiple high-paying commentary gigs. Very hard to see him coming back for a fight where he is, by his own admission, a decisive 0-2.

All solid and sound information...

But we r talking ..."hey pussy ..u still there"..

These guys are such rivals who knows...but u ain't wrong

You know what, that doesn't sound to far fetched. I watch it because HW is practically dead.

On the other hand, Blaydes or Pavlovich deserve a ts, so I am sorta conflicted.

But....seeing DC get knocked out by Jones again will be sweet.

I think some people in this thread are being sarcastic when they're saying it'd be big. I know you aren't, but yeah.

He's retired dude... for multiple years. And lost when he was last in there. And the guy that beat him has since lost when HE was last in the cage, and THAT GUY has also been retired for multiple years.

There's a lot of reasons it would not be a huge fight IMHO. It would be nothing but a reminder of a division SO DEEP in decline that we have to pull multiple greats of yesteryear out of overweight retirement in a transparent and shallow attempt to rekindle interest in a joke of a division. It'd look terrible.
