Damn didn't know I struck a neve in this thread. Let me comment again with a clearer head. I was kinda hoping they would at least try to take a somewhat serious tone with Ragnarok. But even in a scene where Thor is forced to fight Earth's strongest living creature who is also someone he knows and respects, they just camp it up. I just gets boring after they do 20 movies by the book with minor cosmetic changes. Strange was magic Iron Man, Thor was Iron Man in space...etc. Oh well, at least there's Netflix marvel shows.

I was on mobile, and later on figured I was a bit harsh. So my bad, i guess.

From the get-go, i was feeling rather good about the director choice for Thor. What we do in the shadows is the "independent" movie i recommend to everyone. Yes, Thor is not a 9-5 worker and the joke, when you look at it like that, feels misplaced. But i think a lot of people, when looking at that scene, were thinking Thor would say something to the extent of "No way", "Damn", "F*** me" or something serious. Him saying such a joke was a shock, and most jokes work best when they are a shock (IMO). It felt right, and though i can appreciate people saying this is not the Thor from comics (his tone and demeanor is more loose, etc), i think by now we all know MCU is not a direct copy of the source material. If anything, this joke is just a continuation of the "he's adopted", "you people are so petty, and tiny", and the Darryl bit. Also, i really hope Darrly is in Ragnarok, that would be just swell.

Yes, many MCU movies feel like a copy paste, starting from Iron Man. Cocky character, minor character flaws, goes good from him and then he has a troubling time, a defining moment if you will, then he steps up and all is good in the end, with the bad guy defeated. But IM 1, Strange, Thor, Ant Man etc were all origin story movies. Of course the audience has to love them, in order to make sequels (and the entire MCU) profitable. So they don't go against the established, success guaranteed formula. Can't say i'd do much different if i was in their shoes.

And though Ragnarok (an Asgardian slang for end of freakin' universe) is a serious subject, i can do with some fun in this movie, as the previous Thor movies were blatantly dull. I can't unsee the copy paste of the color scheme and the tone of GotG, but screw it, that was the best movie MCU issued, so i don't mind following the formula a few more times.

Thor = Thor.
Mjolnir = Mjolnir

Thor is just as strong/ durable w or without Mjolnir, but Mjolnir is like a soldier having a mini gun and SAMS

Well I didn't mean to imply it boosts his physical stats. Just that he already has less strength and durability than the hulk. Mjolnir gives him more tactical abilities with flight, hammer throw, lightning, etc. to even things out a bit.

It's like putting wolverine up against sabretooth without his claws.

I typically shit on almost all comic book movies nowadays other than Guardians of the Galaxy & Deadpool. They are completely redundant and stale IMO. I thought the 1st 2 Thors were pretty average despite the incredible talent attached. That being said I'm shocked at how good this looked. I'm not saying I'll see this in the theater but that trailer at the very least convinced me to watch.

That waz so bad ass!

Would be sweet to see Loki fighting by Thor's side.

Loved the song in the vid!

Kevin Smith's reaction is pretty much how I felt.

I just want to reiterate my prediction of this being the best Thor movie and also becoming top 3 in the MCU movies because of this man.

Thor with Mjolnir was barely holding off the Hulk when they fought in the Helicarrier. Sans Mjolnir, Thor has very little chance against the Hulk.

But I would be happy to see them show a different side of Thor in this movie, one that showcases his fighting prowess without the hammer. I was disappointed with Thor's fighting abilities and how he just relies on Mjolnir in both Thor films. So if they can present Thor using his smarts and close combat skills against the Hulk in a believable manner, I'm more than okay with that.

Thor by Armbar?:)

Thor > Hulk

Thor's not my cup of tea. I didn't like the first or second one. I do want to see the Hulk fight, so I might catch it online...legally of course.
Yeah. I feel the same, Im kinda letdown by this comic Thor, a huge stepdown from the proud Thunder God who gave up his precious life to save the humanity.
And yeah I have no idea whu Hamsworth doesnt get more buff for the movie. He was really TST in 1st movie.
