I don't think it's the Brood and hope it's not the Brood. They deserve a better debut and should be reserve for future X-Men movies.

I agree thats where the Brood belong, and it would make for a nice change in X-Men movies, but a lot of stuff gets Easter Egged just as fan service knowing its not going to be explored the the depth it deserves.

Originally Waititi promised Space Sharks would be in the movie, but has since retracted saying that there were legal issues including them.


Space Sharks were introduced in Uncanny X-Men 162 as animals that Brood had turned into their space ships (they had 2 kinds, 1 was like a giant space whale shark that was like their flying cities, and the space sharks were like their fighter ships (kind of corny).

As is the case with the Acanti, Starsharks are regularly used by the Brood, who infect the minds of the creatures,[10] in order to use them as living craft that they modify, weaponize, and enhanced in order to serve their needs, as spacecrafts,[19][20] that they crash onto planets to invade them,[1][21][12] or even as steeds.[18].

Space Sharks were later used/ maybe even retconned by Jason Aaron in his Thor: God of Thunder run. In that story, space sharks circled Gorr's home world and fed on the chum of dead gods.

So maybe Space Sharks are off the table, but I'm convinced that this (monster behind Jane Foster) is a Brood in the trailer.

in the trailer gif there are 2 monsters; the one behind Jane is a Brood, the one behind Thor is the bottom part of that stupid Aku from Samurai Jack looking thing:

Taika Waititi was sposed to direct a live action Akira film at one stage a few years ago but it seems to have stalled again, I'm guessing not helped by other anime adaptations like Ghost in the Shell(although honestly I felt the Johansson film was quite good) and Cowboy Beebop not doing that well?

Did seem a bit of a strange choice to me though, like Hollywood just signed whoever was popular the moment were as his style doesnt really seem to mesh with Akira that well.

TBH, and I know this is a teaser-trailer, but I think we're all just thirsty for this to drop because that kind of sucked, imho.
And Sweet Child O' Mine is a terrible song to get hype. Anybody notice lately that movies are just trying to fill themselves up w/ great songs regardless of the movie context?
I have found it to be annoying.
