You keep referencing comics and marvel comics are not the MCU

Just because it can work in comics doesn't mean it can work in the MCU

Also, Warmachine is clearly not Iron Man... Having him in the movie doesn't mean you have 2 Iron Mans
<Dany07>

War machine is another iron man suit you baffoon! It's another person using an iron man suit. It was practically stolen from Tony Stark in his mansion in Iron Man 2. Different character with the same general powers (except they added traditional army related weaponry).

Arguing about whether it will work or not right now is pointless for you because MCU has been kicking ass since its inception. There isn't one MCU movie that has been a financial flop. So mostly everything has worked so far (edit: except for Edward Norton Hulk movie but that still made money).. They're practically minting money visually and you believe this movie won't work because it's two Thors? LOL!

You know nothing about comic books and yet you insist on continuing this silly convo. Hey you wanna embarrass yourself in a Marvel/comic book/MCU related thread be my guest...

Thor isn't just some alias for the guy

Batman is Bruce Wayne
Superman is Clark Kent
Iron man is Stark
Capt America is Rodgers

But Thor is still Thor

Thor is Thor

If that makes sense

Again... you know nothing about comic books and what the MCU is about. Jane Foster is not even replacing Thor. She will likely be a 2nd Thor.

There have been others who were briefly Batman (Dick Grayson and Jean Paul Valley for example). War Machine (and Stark Enterprise) was given to James Rhodes after Tony Starks died (he was actually in rehab and artificially life suspended until he got cured) so he was Iron Man for a while. War Machine is a 2nd Iron Man. As I stated before multiple different people have been (or assumed the mantle or also have the power) of Thor. There's a dozen Flashes (in different timelines or universes) out there who have met and fought together and against each other. Others have assumed the mantle of Captain America already (Bucky and Falcon).

The original Flash (Barry Allen) died and was replaced by Wally West for 20+ years before he was resurrected and reclaimed the title of Flash. I actually grew up reading Wally West so he is my favorite Flash out of the lot.

So no... you are completely wrong on this point...

Really? Over a few gay characters? Seems a bit extreme but oh well.

Its not extreme at all IMO. They have every right to the life they choose and I really mean that. I don't want my daughter exposed to that though until it naturally and actually comes into her life.

I am that way with music too though. I just want entertainment. If I feel like if a movie is trying to be deeply meaningful I wont go to it either, and if there is any lyric in music that is off morally I will never listen to it.

Entertainment is not important enough to me so it has to be JUST right or I don't participate. If I saw two guys kissing in a movie it would make me sick to my stomach....

Flash and Batman are not people

They are secret identities used by Bruce Wayne and Barry Allen respectively

Thor is not a secret identity he is a person

Thor is his name

Who cares we had 11 years of greatness. Marvel is gonna try new shit here and there.

Stop crying like bitches.

Lol. I'm not even mad. I'm just excited for all the drama when these movies start to crap out at the box office.

One thing that jumps out to me is that MCU is very smart at strategic placement of films. Captain Marvel was something of a risk but it was released two months before Endgame when they hype for that film would be at an absolute fever pitch and would bolster box office returns. It performed incredibly.

Spidey gets the benefit of the fallout from the very well received Endgame and earns even more money than your typical Spider-Man film.

Black Widow has some hurdles in that its a prequel film and with a character who is deceased in the current time line, but, given that it is being released nine plus months after the previous MCU film (a far longer break than typical over the past few years) there will be a lot of interest and hype around it and it will probably do very well.

In other words, Feige and co. really know what they're doing.

Again you argue incessantly and foolishly without an ounce of knowledge..

Is Thor being replaced in this case? No... Jane Foster will be another Thor. Just like there's a 2nd Hulk called She-Hulk in the comic books. If you want to call Jane Foster She-Thor be my guest.

Marvel Thor is a person but also an identity that can be given to another due to the powers of Mjolnir. You are confusing traditional Norse fiction with Marvel Norse fiction. They are not one and the same. Nowhere in traditional Norse mythology will you find a story or poem about Odin enchanting Mjolnir with a spell so that anyone worthy can hold the hammer and possess the power of Thor. It can be stolen and hidden so anybody can pick it up. Mjolnir does not provide flight nor does it return to his hand when Thor calls for it. Norse Thor travels via a chariot drawn by goats. Norse Thor also needed a magical belt and glove to wield Mjolnir. Norse Thor has red hair and a red beard. Marvel Thor is a noble hero but Norse Thor is a fierce warrior with a violent temper that slaughters people without a shred of compassion.

Basically Marvel Thor can be anything or anyone that Marvel wishes him or her to be. There are no rules to follow since it's a very loose version of the Norse Thor.

If Thor was actually named Jimmy, Portman would have been the mighty Jimmy.

That’s how dumb it is.

Thor sounds cool and it’s not an everyday name so they push it, even though it makes zero sense.

Would watch both Valkyrie and Jane Foster sit and slide down on the handle of Mjolnir.

The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands.

I hope that the Mjolnir is doubled ended

if you know what I mean

<Baelish01>[<cena1}

Indeed I do, good sir.

They’re all gonna make bank. You’re living in a dream world.

Remember when black panther was gonna fail?

How can you cheer for things getting shittier? The movies aren’t becoming better for Christ sakes. They are becoming worse. It’s like the level of talent of Soviet films, no creative license will be given.

So bland. The whole shift.

I dont understand why gays need all this "representation" when they account for less than 10% of the US population.
But they account for over 50% of the artists population.

Dude you are arguing with people who say that "she is the new king"
There's no coming back for them.
They went full retard. It's like arguing with a door.

Pretty much, these days a lot of a franchises success depends on the general hype around it as much as the individual films. Solo flopping for example was in large part a reaction to The Last Jedi, especially as its main market was hardcore SW fans who were generally most pissed off.

The big lesson I'd say is yes you can give fans something unexpected and be successful but if your arrogantly pissing in their chips expect to fall hard.

"Female Thor" is fucking retarded. I love Natalie Portman, and I'm glad she's back, but I hope she's not there to emasculate Thor, or replace him entirely. I'm down for a good buddy cop style flick, romance rekindling, and some temporary mantle passing for good reasons...

Why do they need to smash Valkyrie's sexual orientation over our heads? If I was gay, I'd be insulted by this infantile pandering, it's nauseating. I'm sure it's just a marketing ploy, and it will be forgotten if the movie is good. I liked Ragnarok a lot, so I'll wait and see here

Remember when Marvel comics used to sell like gangbusters? They are on life support now, and the same can happen to the MCU if they go down the woke, and (more importantly) shitty writing path.

There have been enough stinkers and mediocrity in the MCU already (Cpt Marvel, BP, Ant Man 2, Thor 2) but they were propped up by Winter Soldier and Infinity War-like awesomeness, not to mention the presence of RDJ and Evans.

So long as Feige's still leading the charge and he has the Russo's directing films, the MCU is safe for now. I'm sure he has a strong plan, and bringing star power for the Eternals is wise. However, anyone thinking the MCU is immune to a Solo-like fail is delusional. He does have Disney hovering over his shoulder after-all.

How many franchises have been ruined in the last decade due to wokeness, shitty writing and greed too. Include video games/tv shows in there, it's staggering.

The shift in the MCU seemed to be when Disney sidelined Ike Perlmutter(who still runs Marvel TV, make of that what you will) around 2014-15 and gave Feige greater control, since then I think you've seen a clear improvement and more room for directors to go out on the limb. At Lucasfilm I I think Kennedy is much more Perlmutter than she is Feige, cynical business type who cares little about what she's producing.

Again I think if you look at Thor's character in the recent films he's basically set up as a likeble but flawed blowhard who ends up looking a bit foolish sometimes. So playing against the idea of Jane as a damsel in distress a bit seems very much inline with that, it really just depends on the quality of the writing/characterisation IMHO.

In this case I'm guessing the fact she's tiny compared to Helmsworth will be played up to push this, I mean your talking about space magic so nothing to say a 5 foot 2 slim actress can't be superpowered.

At the end of the day though I think you can be pretty sure Helmsworth will remain the lead character and will have a heroic redemption by the end.

Natalie feels she will be arrested if she goes to Israel as she didn't serve, turned down an award. And she doesn't like Bibi called him racist. For its policy for refugees, don't think she has said too much about Palestine though
Thanks for the explanation.

So Falcon, Wanda, Loki, What if and Hawkeye are series for disney streaming.

Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-shi, Dr Strange nad Thor are films.
That's their line-up? Well it seems that DC does not have to do anything to reach Marvel anymore, since it is sinking to DC's level by itself.
