I guess that means Bale isn't Adam Warlock as suspected at one point, when did that come out?
It was revealed that Bale would play Gorr the God Butcher back in Dec. 2020.

The highly-anticipated Taika Waititi-directed Thor: Love and Thunder received a thunderous reaction when it was announced at SDCC 2019. Well, we hope you’re sitting because we have a new development of epic proportions from Kevin Feige, president, Marvel Studios, and chief creative officer, Marvel, from The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day.

With Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) returning to their roles, they will be joined by Christian Bale, who will portray the villain Gorr the God Butcher.

The fourth film in the Thor franchise, Waititi previously revealed, "When we were shooting Ragnarok, I was reading one storyline by Jason Aaron, called THE MIGHTY THOR. And for those of you that don't know that storyline, it's incredible and full of emotion and love and thunder. And it introduces, for the first time, a female Thor,” confirming that Jane Foster, played by Portman, will become the Mighty Thor, Goddess of Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder opens in theaters on May 6, 2022!

Russell Crowe Reveals He Is Playing Olympian God Zeus in Marvel Studios' THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER

Well, the cat is officially out of the bag! During an appearance on Australian radio station Joy 94.9, Russell Crowe confirmed that he will take on the role of Olympian God Zeus in Thor: Love and Thunder. You have to believe Marvel Studios was looking to keep this a secret, especially as this character's introduction could be a game-changer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the comic books, Zeus is the supreme monarch of the Olympians, a group of beings that includes one-time Avenger, Hercules. He also has ties to the Eternals, and battled Odin when Olympus and Asgard went to war thousands of years ago.

Zeus has fought alongside Thor in the present day, and his introduction likely signals the debut of a number of God-like beings from Olympus in this shared world.

Will Crowe be here to stay? That would be pretty cool, though it seems far more likely that Zeus will be a victim of Gorr the God Butcher as he travels through the cosmos killing every God he comes across. In other words, we're probably going to see Crowe vs. Christian Bale on the big screen next year. Exciting, eh?

When Crowe was spotted alongside Chris Hemsworth at a rugby game recently, he was rocking a mighty white beard, so he definitely looks the part to play this God...

I'm looking forward to more of the Avengers who haven't been in the MCU yet.

Up next. Zues/spiderman crossover where every plot detail is revealed by the cast months before release.
Is that a joke about Crowe dropping spoilers in interviews? I know Tom Holland is notorious for it

Great casting. And it won't be long before we see Hercules in the MCU.

I’m not sure, but as a kid I seem to recall Thor beating him up in a close matchup.
Hercules always seemed to lose the prime time matchups as an Avenger when I was a kid reading. Similar to Colossus in that regard.

I didn't read the comics, but I remember being very butthurt that Collosus lost to Jugs in the 90s X-Men cartoon on Fox.

I’d imagine that probably would be comic accurate though, right? I mean if Colossus could take Juggernaut alone he wouldn’t be the type of threat that could take on the whole team.

I have high hopes for this. The casting is inspired to boot.

I'm kind of like "Booo this idea" tbh. Never liked the Greek gods, Hercules being the one exception.
I was really hoping he was going to be old Thor, or new Odin to replace Sir Hannibal Lecture.

Bale should have kept snd grown his hair and played Adam, but wtevr.

GOTG 3 is something I’m really looking forward to.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher spotted with Taika Waititi and Christian Bale in Sydney. Maybe Cohen will have a cameo in Love and Thunder?
